Recitation Worksheet 9: Exam 3 Review Name: MyID: **Please read the instructions carefully** Instructions: 1. Please enter your first and last name as it appears on the eLC classlist. 2. Your UGA myID is a combination of letters and numbers. Do not use your 81x number. 3. Answers must be written in the corresponding answer boxes. No credit is awarded for answers that are not in the designated answer boxes. 4. You MUST attend your assigned recitation section in order to earn credit for this recitation worksheet. If you submit a worksheet without attending your recitation section, you will earn a score of zero. 5. You may complete this worksheet either on paper or electronically. In either case, your entire, completed worksheet must be converted to a PDF and then uploaded to Gradescope by 12:00 PM (noon) on Saturday following your recitation. a. If you are using an app to annotate the worksheet electronically, use the “Print to PDF” function to save a final copy for submission. Make sure ALL pages (including this one!) are included in the CORRECT ORDER and have the SAME SIZE AND LAYOUT as the original or Gradescope will not be able to read it! OneNote often causes problems maintaining size and layout, and is NOT RECOMMENDED. If Gradescope cannot read your worksheet, you will receive a grade of zero! b. If you are completing the worksheet on paper, convert your final completed worksheet to a PDF using an app such as the official Gradescope App, CamScanner, or Adobe Scan. Make sure ALL pages (including this one!) are included in the CORRECT ORDER and have the SAME SIZE AND LAYOUT as the original or Gradescope will not be able to read it! If Gradescope cannot read your worksheet, you will receive a grade of zero! 6. Please see the “Recitation > Gradescope Resources” folder on eLC for helpful instructions for creating and uploading recitation worksheets. Most technical problems can be addressed in this way. 7. Write all answers in dark ink or pencil lead. Light writing, light-colored ink, or highlighter may not be picked up when the document is analyzed by Gradescope. 8. Answers must be given in the format as instructed. For example, if the question asks you to bubble in a circle completely, you must bubble a circle in completely. Do not type “XXX,” “this one,” place an “X” in the circle, check mark the circle, etc. For questions that state to write an “X” or an “O” in the box, only answers that write an “X” or an “O” will be considered for grading and all other submissions will not be submitted for credit. 1. Which of the following is the correct name for the structure below? Bubble in your answer. o (1S,3S)-3-hydroxycyclohexanamine o (1S,3S)-3-aminocylcohexanol o (1R,3R)-3-aminocyclohexanol o (1R,3R)-3-hydroxycyclohexamine 2. Which of the following is the correct name for the structure below? Bubble in your answer. o (S)-3-methoxy-4-vinyl-1,5-hexadiene o (S)-4-vinyl-3-methoxy-1,5-hexadiene o (S)-3-vinyl-4-methoxy-1,5-hexadiene o (S)-4-methoxy-3-vinyl-1,5-hexadiene 3. Consider a hydrogenation reaction that produces the following product. Suggest two alkenes that would produce the same product where one alkene has the highest possible heat of hydrogenation and one that has the lowest possible heat of hydrogenation. Highest Heat of Hydrogenation Lowest Heat of Hydrogenation Product of Hydrogenation 4. An increase in which of the following results in a decrease in the rate of a reaction? Bubble in your answer. o Concentration o Fraction of collisions with proper orientation o Temperature o Collision Frequency o Energy of Activation 5. For the following reaction, draw all four possible products: HI ??? NH2 OH O 10. Which of the following is a possible reactant for the following reaction? Bubble in all possible answers. HBr Br? 11. Which reagent Y will be best to complete the reaction shown? Bubble in your answer completely. OY o CH3COOH o RCO3H o NaOH, H2O o OsO4, H2O2 12. Select all compounds that are possible products in a catalytic hydrogenation reaction with (E)-3,4-dibromo-3-heptene. Write an “X” in the boxes for your answers. CH2CH3 Br H CH2CH2CH3 H Br CH2CH3 H Br CH2CH2CH3 Br H CH2CH3 H Br CH2CH2CH3 H Br CH2CH3 Br H CH2CH2CH3 Br H 13. What is the relationship (enantiomers, diastereomers, same, constitutional isomers, or different compounds) between your answers of the previous problem? Write your answer in the box below. Reagent Bank A) H2O, H2SO4 B) X2 (X = Br, Cl) C) mCPBA D) CH3OH, H2SO4 E) H2O, H2SO4, HgSO4 F) X2, H2O (X = Br, Cl) G) HX (X = Br, Cl, I) in excess H) HX (X = Br, Cl, I) 1 equivalent I) 1) BH3 2) H2O2, H2O, NaOH J) H2, Pd/C K) 1) OsO4, pyridine 2) NaHSO3, H2O L) 1) O3 2) (CH3)2S M) 1) Hg(OAc)2, H2O 2) NaBH4 14. Using the reagent bank provided above, write the letter of the reagent needed to complete the following reactions. OH Br Br OH O O OH OH OH 15. Write the mechanism for the following reaction. Include all arrows, charges, and intermediates. Br Br2, CH3OH O 16. Write the mechanism for the following reaction. Include all arrows, charges, and intermediates. Br HBr
