Question 1:

Create a table that lists all 2G, 2.5G, and 3G mobile telephone standards. Carefully research the latest sources to determine the following parameters for each standard: (a). RF channel BW; (b). peak data rate; (c). typical data rate; (d). responsible standards body; (e). maximum number of concurrent users; (f). modulation type.

Parameters 2 G 2.5 G 3G RF Channel Bandwidth

800 MHz – 1900 MHz

800 MHz – 1900 MHz

1900 MHz

Peak Data Rate

Question 4:

Draw a cellular network with the hexagon cell shape and cluster size equal to 4. Mark the

frequency assignments in each cell.

Using: N = i2 + ij + j2

For N = 4

Choosing i = 0, j = 2

Steps to find the nearest co-channel neighbours of a particular cell: 19 1. move i cells along any chain of hexagons 2. turn 60o counter-clockwise and move j cells. This is the location of our next co-channel cell.
