Work experience proposal This proposal concerns the possibility of including an element of work experience in the college’s Bussines Studies course. The course I am currently enrolled in the two-year Bussines Studies course. The work we do in the college provides an excellent context for understanding how businesses function. Our instructors all have background in business, which they use to inform their lectures with exemples and challenging business cases from their real-life experiences. Benefits of a work experience element Many of us on the course feel that our learning would be substantially improved if we could spend a period of time doing work experience in a business environment. The majority of us have done part-time jobs, but these are generally low-skilled, and, while it is good to have the experience, it does not develop your skills in the same way that a work placement would do. Such a placement would allow us to put our knowledge into practice and thus, to build confidence, which, in turn, would further motivate us in our studies. Furthermore, we would have the chance to make useful contacts and to deepen our understanding of the career prospects in the field. Last but not least, this worthwhile experience would also provide us with a welcome addition to our Cvs. Recommendation Consequently, I suggest the following course of action.The college could contact local businesses to set up work experience placements that support the studies we do. In my view, the short placements could take place during the tern breaks, whereas the longer ones could target the longer summer breaks. Not surprisingly, some students might be even willing to extend their course by a term, as work experience is so valuable for us.
Proposal for increasing shopping in the town centre This is in response to the town’s council request for proposals to deal with the decrease in shopping in the town centre. Reasons for the decrease There is a general trend towards internet shopping and away from purchases in physical shops. Further, a new out-of-town shopping centre has recently opened up and its popularity with the city dwellers is more than obvious, but sadly also disadvantageous to our town centre. Impact on the town centre Consequently, the town centre is now a less welcoming place for consumers. The are a lot of empty shops, the range of products available is rather unattractive, and this results in fewer reasons for people to visit. Suggestions for increasing town centre shopping There is little the town council can do about internet shopping. Individual shops may be able to combine their in-store offer with their online sales, but that is for them to consider. Nevertheless, there are several steps the town council could take to help the local economy in town. Firstly , we must admit that the parking in the town centre is expensive. While public transport is a reliable and environmentally friendly option, people who have a lot of purchase to make, will, however, want to drive. For this reason I strongly recommend reducing the cost of parking in the town shopping area. Secondly , according to the current regulations, town centre shops are required to close at 6 a.m., whereas the new shopping centre is open until 10 a.m.. It is therefore needless to say that town centre shops should be allowed to stay open later. Additionally, a variety of entertainment activities, which could be organised at the weekend, would have the potential to draw a large number of people and would be ideally suited to enliven /inlaivăn/ the atmosphere of the whole area. To conclude , along with sufficient advertising, these mesures could not fail to make the town centre more competitive, bring back consumers and even arouse the interest of the neighbouring towns.
B. Proposal for celebrating our company’s successful year The purpose of this proposal is to outline two ideas for celebrating the great success our company has had in the last year. It also includes reasoned arguments which explain why I consider that my suggestions should be take into consideration. Firstly, I would recommend having a party as this would be a relaxed and enjoyable way to acknowledge our success. The event could take place on a friday afternoon either in our newly renovated cafeteria or a larger an d more appropriate venue could be rented if we also want to invite a band for live music. At the party, there could be a time for recongnising the particular contribution that individuals or teams have made to the overall company success. The staff would derive benefit from having some ‘downtime’ together and it will also be very montivating to focus our discussions on what we have achieved working hard side by side. In addition, the good feeling this could generate would have a beneficial influence on the atmosphere and the company as a whole. Secondly, we might also consider taking a day off and getting involved in a community project. We are very lucky to be located near the beautiful Mamaia beach and therefore we could participate in a beach clean-up day. I reckon we all agree this is a great cause and a very satisfying project which would certainly appeal to the most of the employees. There are many benefits which should be mentioned. The time spent together would help us to build stronger bonds. Furthermore, it would also be a way to give back to the community we are part of and a project for the public benefit would also project a good and valuable image for the company. To conclude, either of these suggestions would be very attractive to staff, but if only one could be implemented, I recommend to organise a party, as it is more of a celebration. We could look at the community project another time or it coud be considered by our HR-team in the near future.
