Now what I’m going to do is apply a temporary grid onto your skin with a little alcohol. This will allow me to evenly treat the area and customize your treatment. I’m going to apply it with alcohol and following the treatment, I’ll remove it with alcohol. DRAWING VECTORS ON SKIN: Now what I’m going to do is customize and plan your treatment by marking specific areas based on your concerns. This allows me to visualize the areas to focus once you’re reclined. I’m using a water based eye liner pencil; I’ll remove these lines with alcohol post-treatment. APPLY RETURN PAD: Next I’m going to apply a return pad. I’ll be placing it on your: lower back (for face treatments) OR thigh (for tummy treatments). The purpose is to close the circuit of energy so that all energy is focused on you. As I place the return pad it may feel a little cold to touch. You should not feel any heat in this area during the treatment. If you do, please let me know. BEFORE YOU BEGIN: This is the hand piece that I will be using on your skin. It will deliver heat and it will also vibrate to help manage sensitivities. I’m going to use your feedback during the entire treatment to maintain a HOT BUT TOLERABLE SENSATION. There may be some areas that may be more sensitive than others and we’ll make adjustments once we identify those areas. Again, the heat you will feel should be tolerable, never painful. The treatment will be effective as long as you feel a hot but tolerable heat. I’ll be placing a water-based fluid on the skin as we treat each area. It does tend to be messy and some of it will get in your hair (face treatment) or on your clothing. As I mentioned it’s water based and easily washes out. This fluid helps deliver proper heat through the skin and keeps the skin cool. TUNING THE HANDPIECE: Before I start, I have to tune the handpiece to your skin. On this first pulse, you won’t feel any heat. It will be a cold sensation. This initial pulse sets the machine to you and your skin.
Now that tuning is complete, I’m going to start the treatment. The next pulse is where you will feel heat. I’m going to do a couple of pulses to get you comfortable with the sensation and we’ll adjust as needed. PATIENT FEEDBACK: On a scale of 0 to 4 where 0 is you feel nothing and 5 is very hot, you should be at a 2 – which is HOT BUT TOLERABLE HEAT. How would you rate the heat you’re feeling?
