Please provide proper reasoning.

The conditions satisfied by a function at the boundary of its interval of definition. They are generally distinguished in hard or soft also called Neumann (the normal derivative of the function is equal to zero) or Dirichlet (the function itself is equal to zero).

Different boundary conditions may cause quite different simulation results. Improper sets of boundary conditions may introduce nonphysical influences on the simulation system, while a proper set of boundary conditions can avoid that.
