"No factors that are perfect squares (other than 1) What they mean here is that it is simplified inside the radical as much as it can be Let's look at some examples √4....this is not in simplified radical form because 4 is a perfect square, so you can simplify this more: √4 = 2 √18....this is not in simplified radical form because 9 is a perfect square, so you can simplify this more: √18 = √9√2 = 3√2 √125....this is not in simplified radical form because 25 is a perfect square, so you can simplify this more: √125 = √25√5 = 5√5 √26....this IS in simplified radical form because NONE of the factors of 26 are perfect squares (except 1) so nothing can be factored out of the radical. The factors of 26 are 1, 2, 13 & 26, none are perfect squares except 1"
