Why did early astronomers believe in the geocentric model?

He accepted that the Earth was the focal point of the Universe. The word for Earth in Greek is geo, so we consider this thought a "geocentric" hypothesis. In any event, beginning with this erroneous hypothesis, he had the option to consolidate what he saw of the stars' developments with science, particularly math, to anticipate the developments of the planets.
