Everyone else has a plan/has known since childhood 3. Someone else will tell me what to do 4. Once I decide I can't go back 5. But if there's a person and a clone, one of them is unnecessary. Ophelia Syndrome: Treatment - 1. Find great teachers who inspire & challenge you to learn and think for themselves. (Students discuss with other students, have debates, learn by discovering rather than lectures) 2. Dare to know and trust yourself (personality tests, journaling, letters) 3. Learn to live with uncertainty (not everything can be explained, no one has the answers) 4. Practice opposite thinking (counterarguments, other points of view) 5. Foster idle thinking (free your mind) 6. Plan to step out of bounds (think outside the box that Polonius gave you, go against advice of people you love, try something outside of the ordinary) Ophelia: Major ideas - Ophelia Syndrome in own life: Are universities rendering students vulnerable to the Ophelia Syndrome? How does it affect career selection? How can you minimize it's influence in your own life?
