Please provide a brief summary of the findings from either Project MATCH or the COMBINE study (the two treatment-related articles that you read for class). Then, discuss the implications of the findings from the study for practitioners in the substance abuse treatment field. 2. Assume that you are working with a client who has a diagnosis of alcohol dependence. Pick one of the behavioral treatment modalities that we discussed this semester (e.g., twelve-steps, cognitive behavioral, motivational enhancement/ interviewing, family), and discuss how this treatment perspective would inform your work with the client. 3. Describe the difference between a pharmacological treatment that serves as an agonist versus one that serves as an antagonist, and discuss the pros and cons of each in treating individuals with substance use disorders. 4. Please describe the way that family and other social-related factors can impact the treatment process. Specifically, describe how these factors could both positively and negatively impact the treatment process, and how you might include friends and family members in the course of one’s treatment.
