Classroom Environment and Management 1 Classroom Environment and Management Western Governors University M B1. In “Eliciting Student Understandings About Changing States of Matter '' case number 856, the teacher implemented rules and procedures that maximize student learning. The teacher Classroom Environment and Management 2 was asking questions and the students were raising their hands. They were also staying quiet during the discussion if they didn’t have anything to contribute. The teacher has made her rules clear and the class is following them. The teacher has her classroom in groups to help facilitate student learning. The students are in groups of four, making tables. This way when the lesson calls for it they can easily work together without having to move around. This type of learning environment would work for me as a teacher because it really maximes student learning. The teacher has also has her rules set in place and the students follow them. I like this as a teacher because it allows for a smooth classroom when the students understand and follow the rules (NBPTS,2014) B2. In “Enhancing Listening and Communication Skills Through Poetry” the teacher anticipates student distraction and student interruption. She has the students come up and read their poems. She makes sure the students will be respectful and listen during the poems. The teacher models behavior and that shows the students how to act. Because the teacher models the behavior and has an expectation it promotes a respectful environment for communication (NBPTS,2014). B3. In “Identifying Real Ocean Floor Features Through Modeling” one characteristic I appreciate about her classroom that allows open discussion and student learning. They are in small groups with a variety of abilities in each group. They are in these groups because they have limited background in science. The teacher learned that the students learn best when they can discuss it with their peers. This creates a highly effective environment because the teacher discovered the best way they learn and utilizes it. (NBPTS,2016).
