Revised Mar. 2015 University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds School of Business 5-year BS/MS BA Concurrent Degree Program in Accounting Students who seek admission to the Concurrent BSBA/MSBA Degree Program in Accounting, and who expect to graduate with both degrees in May 2016, must submit the two attached applications to Geri Lameman in KOELBEL S405F no later than Tuesday, July 15, 2014. There is no application fee or deposit. You do not need get letters of recommendation for the concurrent program. With your application form, you do need to attach 1.) an updated copy of your Progress Report from the Undergraduate Advising Office or degree audit and 2.) a copy of your Unofficial Transcript. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Education Requirements The Concurrent Program prepares students for a variety of rewarding career paths, while specifically meeting the long-term educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Colorado. Admission Criteria Criteria for admission to the Concurrent Program include a minimum of 3.0 cumulative overall GPA, and a minimum of 550 on the GMAT exam. We will consider the best score out of two tries on the GMAT exam. Admission is competitive. Internships Students who have been admitted to the Concurrent Program can get professional accounting work experience through an internship. Most internships are available during Spring semester (busy-season), though some are available over the summer. Accounting interns must be paid, and must receive overtime pay where appropriate. Students who enroll in and complete the requirements of ACCT 6000 (which includes documentation of working at least 300 hours) can receive 3 credits of Pass/Fail credit. These 3 hours may be applied toward the undergraduate business elective requirement, assuming the student does not exceed restrictions on Pass/Fail credits toward the BS degree. Busy-season internships are available each year during the first two thirds of the spring semester. Internships begin early January and end the Friday before Spring Break. During late March/April of the spring semester, students will take a compressed version of an advanced accounting course, and complete an independent research project on a current topic directly related to their internship experience.
