D082 Emotional and Cultural Intelligence Task 1 Student ID: 012103003 A. Global Leadership Foundation Emotional Intelligence Test (GEIT) Submitted as a PDF. B. Intrapersonal Improvement

  1. After completing the GEIT self-assessment, I discovered that my lowest intrapersonal skill is self-awareness, which is defined as the ability to understand oneself and recognize one’s emotions. According to Daniel Goleman's model, one way to enhance self- awareness is by developing self-confidence. I often seek reassurance from colleagues and my supervisor, which highlights an area for growth. By observing how my mentors navigate complex situations, I can build a solid knowledge base that strengthens my confidence in my abilities. Additionally, attending workshops, enrolling in relevant courses, and engaging in real-world problem-solving exercises can further enhance my competence and decision-making skills.
  2. Another area I need to improve is self-management, which involves recognizing and regulating my emotions effectively. When I

experience stress, I tend to shut down and withdraw from people or situations. However, by learning to be more open and honest about my feelings and needs, I can foster stronger, more positive relationships with others. Developing this skill will help me navigate challenges with greater resilience and build healthier connections. C. Interpersonal Improvement

  1. Although I scored a nine in relationship management, I aim to further strengthen my ability to be an empathetic listener. Empathetic listening involves fully focusing on, understanding, and responding to the speaker without judgment. It requires not just hearing their words but also understanding the emotions behind them. By practicing empathetic listening, I can help others feel heard and valued, fostering trust and deeper connections. This approach involves being fully present, allowing the speaker to express themselves fully before responding. In doing so, I can continue to enhance my relationship management skills by building rapport and effectively addressing the emotional needs of others.
  2. I also want to continue improving my ability to recognize non-verbal cues. This skill involves observing body language, facial expressions,

and other non-verbal signals to better understand someone’s emotional state. By accurately interpreting these cues, I can respond more empathetically and appropriately, which is essential for effective relationship management, particularly in sensitive contexts such as working with incarcerated individuals. Developing this understanding enables me to anticipate needs and adapt my communication style to suit the situation effectively.
