The topic given to us for the presentation is death before dishonor Modernity has made people forget their traditional customs and values, but one value which still remains highly guarded is honor. Millions are born, thousands live but there are very few who make any mark through their good deeds and make their generation proud of them An honorable man maintains an attitude of defiance towards death. He realizes the fact that death must come sooner or later. For death is an essential part of the scheme of things, this body made of dust; this flesh must some day become cold, insensitive and lifeless. It is therefore vain to pity oneself at the thought of death. At most, death can kill his body but his honor will always remain alive, thus in the long run death itself will die. Inspirit of resolution, an honorable man experiences the pain of death only when it actually overtakes him, and even then. It makes light of the pain. Honor is important to person than all other things Defending one’s honor or upholding it is no crime but what makes it undesirable, is the extreme to which it is taken. A time comes in the life of a person when he has to choose honor over luxuries because without honor, a person can’t survive in this world. Luxuries can be regained easily but honour once lost can not easily regained. Respected audience!! It is more important to people even more than, their own lives their own lives and also even everything that they wishes for themselves. When a person looses his honor, actually he looses everything that he posses. This death can be in any shape. In shape of physical death, in shape of your luxuries, in shape of death of your desires, wishes. And in my opinion death of your desires for your honor is more important than even your physic3al death. When we look upon at National level the thing which is important is honor. In shape of wars both hot wars and cold wars, Nations give importance to their honor and as a consequences that Nation has to pay a very big cost. This cost may be economically or by the death of their soldiers. Why soldiers give their lives? Why Nations gives even 70% of their budget to defence? This is only to protect their honor. The only thing which is important to them is their honor. That is the only reason behind the war between India and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. Today we are just highlighting a few such legends who sacrificed their lives at the altar of protecting some honor. We all are familiar with Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed. He was fully aware of the sensitivity of his post. He occupied that key post and while he was guiding the Pakistan artillery to aim the opposition’s post, a shell hit him and he met his tragic end. I would like to draw your attention towards a negative aspect of death before dishonor. HONOR KILLING: NEGATIVE ASPECT This topic has negative aspect as well. Honor which has prompted people to commit heinous crimes and take life, our society is full of stories in which women have become the witness of honor killing. But this is not just limited to our country Pakistan. In various parts of the world women suffered atrocities at the hands of their tribes, families and men. Honour killing is most often the killing of a female, but in some cases also a male, and sometimes his/her familymembers, love- interests or other associates likemarital offences, typically by his/her own relatives or relatives of a purported romantic interest, with the justification being that the "offence" has brought"dishonour" to the family. Only the women become the victim of honour killing in that society. honour killing is forbidden in Islam It is a fact that if a person chooses death rather than dishonesty to his job or profession it earns more honors to the person. A common example we often face in a society is that when a student gets failed in the examinations, He commits suicide due to pressure of dishonor in the family as well as in the society. Instead he struggle and work hard and kill his desires to himself honor is the family and society. The Japanese custom of Hara Kari that is ritual suicide by disembowelment with a sword, formerly practiced by samurai to avoid dishonor is somewhat similar to the negative aspect of Death before Dishonor. END: Death is not a frightful monster it is only a natural and necessary en of life. No one can foresee accidents epidemic and other forms of sudden death. It is therefore always preferable to lead an honorable life rather than leading a life of cowardice because an honor once lost can never be recovered so it is vain to go about in constant fear of the evils that might happen.
