Religion is a set of organized beliefs, practices, and systems most often associated with the beliefs and worship of dominance such as personal gods and other supernatural beings. This is a basic definition, but there are many different understandings of what religion is, and not all religions focus on belief in God, God, or the supernatural power. The purpose of practicing a religion is to achieve the goals of salvation for oneself and others and (if there is a God) to render due worship and obedience to God. Different religions have different concepts of salvation and God. It is basically impossible to answer a question about the existence of God with a simple “yes” or no.” This is exciting! Some of my favorite classes in the religion department have been about theology, or the study of God. Rarely is there a single correct answer when thinking about religion.
