Alan was the only 1 of the 5 of them there that could not swim. *Fireman saved them. When leaving the well noticed other side of well with a plank with nails sticking out (if Frank jumped there then would have died) *Alan later killed in a car accident after Vietnam. Life is an accident. Story: Moose, Robbie, and Frank visited Covington, Kentucky *stayed at a friend’s mansion/horse farm *decided to stop at OSU on the way home *a kid pushes Donny at the diner, so Moose beats the kid up *the cops happen to drive by, but Moose in jail, few hundred dollar bail *Frank plays pool (9 ball) to make bail *last game for final $100 *awesome pool shooter cool black guy misses the last shot on purpose My friend is in jail too and I can’t get him out for $100. FRIENDS COUNT! Cultural Lag (The Story of Billy) 1. Definition of cultural lag a. the time between the appearance of a new aspect of society and the development of appropriate adjustments in a corresponding area of culture. b. The time of an adjustment is often relatively long. c. Troublemaker, 7th grade or jail. a. First Interaction: Picnic at Kennywood Park *Tommy (Bully) the Barbarian *acted up every time the teacher Rachel showed up *stuck Nancy’s pig tail in the oil well *spits on women outside of bus, Billy smashes his face against the metal bar of the window b. Second Interaction: Assigned Seats *Billy gets his own row, no man’s land behind Frankie. Sits in the back and smokes/ watches motorcycle *Frank puts a mallocup (Mellon Cup)on Billy’s desk *always get them for a while, start talking in class *Frankie’s birthday, 9th graders try to beat him up, but Billy arrives and beats them up for him. Ride home on motorcycle. Don’t ever touch one of my friends. c. Billy at bowling ally * Billy was poor, asked Frankie to set up pins with him at bowling alley *Green hat guy hits Frankie with ball, went to hospital *Everyone beats up green hat guy, ends up in the hospital too. d. Billy hangs himself years later. Many students don’t know how to drink *t-ball example, don’t know the rules of drinking f. There will always be assholes
