Running head: INTERDISCIPLINARY PLAN PROPOSAL Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal Capella University Leading People, Processes, and Organizations in Interprofessional Practice Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal The challenge I am trying to solve is strengthening the organizational capacity to sustain quality personnel, patient, and employee wellbeing. Staff welfare has been an ongoing challenge, and a daunting job has been to ensure quality care for all patients. Given the high incidents of COVID-19, unequal staff to resident ratio, and long hours of shift schedule for healthcare employees, patient, employee protection has become challenging to sustain. Objective For the implementation of this strategy, administrators and staff are all responsible. To mitigate the transmission risk of COVID-19 in our workplaces and societies, which involves complete collaboration between our employees and management. The protection and welfare of all people in our workplaces can be developed and sustained only by this cooperative collaboration. The Hospital handles the COVID-19 Preparedness Plan appointed coordinator, who holds the ultimate authority and responsibility for the plan. However, management and staff are similarly accountable for supporting, implementing, cooperating with, and including guidance to 1 INTERDISCIPLINARY PLAN PROPOSAL strengthen all areas of this Preparedness Strategy for COVID-19. The management and supervisors of the department have full cooperation in implementing the terms of this strategy. Questions and Predictions 1. How can we protect the workers from acquiring the COVID-19 while delivering patient care? a. Provide all staff with personal protective equipment. Implement social distance to staff and families, institutional protocols, coordination, instruction, and protocol standards. They also will attend in services for the safety protocol in providing care. 2. How are we going to increase the ratio of nurses to residents? a. Evaluate the understanding of the resident to nurse ratio so that the employee nurses meet the increasing demand for COVID-19 patients. Provide a sign-up list for nurses who wish to take shifts, too. Researchers van Oostveen et al. (2020) have shown that "Thus, it is important for nurse managers and policy makers to know what determines the optimal number and skill mix of nurses required to deliver high‐quality and cost‐effective patient care" (p.185). 3. How can testing for the COVID - 19 be effective? a. The center of disease and prevention recommends" Establish a process to ensure everyone (patients, healthcare personnel, and visitors) entering the facility is assessed for symptoms of COVID-19, or exposure to others with suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and that they are practicing source control".
