RULE

When a player is in an offside position, the game should be stopped for offside and an indirect free kick awarded to the opponent. - False The goalkeeper is always one of the two defenders needed to be nearer the goal line than the ball so an attacking player is not in an offside position. - False At the moment the ball is played an attacking player is in his/her own half of the field and breaks forward. The player receives the ball 5 yards into the attacking half and there are not two or more defenders between him/her and the goal line. The referee should allow play to continue. - True An attacking player is in an offside position and runs back to his/her own half of the field to receive a pass. Play should be allowed to continue. - False An indirect free kick for an offside infringement can never occur in the attacking team's own half of the field. - False A player is in an offside position when a shot on goal is taken. The goalkeeper parries the ball to the player who scores. The goal should be disallowed for offside. - True A shot on goal is taken and goes into the top left corner of the goal. At the time of the shot an attacking player was in the goal area, near the right side. The referee should allow the goal since the player was merely in an offside position. - True A shot on goal is taken from about 16 yards from the goal. The ball rebounds off the goal post to an attacking player who is on the edge of the penalty area and does not have two or more defenders between him/her and the goal line. The referee should allow play to continue. - True A goal kick is taken and an attacking player receives it in the opponents half of the field and there are not two or more defenders nearer the goal line. The referee should allow play to continue. - True A corner kick is taken and the ball rebounds off the goal post to an attacking player who is approximately eight yards from the goal. The defenders move up and the ball is played back to the player who took the corner kick. The referee should allow play to continue because there is no offside on a corner kick. - False
