Give an example of an evidence-based practice (EBP) project that you have either been a part of or have knowledge regarding. 2 Points Three years ago I use work in a nursing home that often had an infections issue until one day the state surveyors give them 15 tags for lack of infection especially on Clostridium difficile (C. diff). The last thing a patient/ resident wants is going to a hospital for treatment of infection. They complain of not been able to sleep while in the hospital. The Director of Nursing resign and then we got a new DON. On her first month of work, knowing that nurses play a key role in helping to prevent illness before it happens by adhering to evidence-based practice. She instituted an infection-control policy. Which included wearing personal protective clothing, keeping the healthcare environment clean, and using barrier precautions and practicing correct handwashing. A foam in foam out hand hygiene was installed on the two floor. And the amazing thing was that everyone was told to foam in and foam out to every room you enter. Whenever you foam in and out, you were to go and sign off on the foam in and out sheet. By the end of the first two weeks of the project, all those that had daily sign off were given bonuses. When other employees saw what happen and they too wanted that bonus it became a daily activity for everyone and by the end of that month, infection was cut down to notthing any could ever imagine.
