  2. Learning can be a big motivator at the start of career.
  3. Experience level of senior nurses and physicians can be a motivating factor. In nursing domain practical learnings can be achieved much faster if experienced guide is available (Mary & Frances & Michele, 2008).
  4. Salary drawn, working hours and work conditions can be other factors in motivating or demotivating nurses.
  1. Career path offered by employer can be an important factor in consideration. The career trajectory offered can be a big factor for future growth. Determine career goals through the completion of a Career Assessment Profile in Career Care. My Career goals can be divided into short term goals and long-term goals. My short-term goal includes learning practical skills while working as nurse and growing through career path to become head of nursing staff. My long-term goal includes having my own medical caring center specifically for senior citizens. Holistic Life Balance: Provide a description of the ways in which the student intends to maintain holistic balance in their personal life as well as in the role of professional nurse within the first year and at five years. We can maintain holistic balance in our personal life as well as in the role of professional nurse by planning our schedule according to working hours. If the shift is night, then sleeping hours must be adjusted accordingly. It may be necessary to mark time specifically for breakfast, lunch and dinner without missing any of them. In any shift it may be appropriate to identify and maintain own schedule for physical exercises. In 5-year time we may get better adjusted to working schedules and demands of the work but even family responsibilities may increase. I do understand that I must plan in such a way that I can deliver up to family and work expectations simultaneously. I do plan to stand up to demands of a role that saves life by also saving life in myself by having a holistic life balance (Maggie, 2015).

Stressors and Challenges: Identify known stressors and anticipated challenges as well as plans for managing each of them within the first year and at five years. My goal includes taking up a nursing role in state of Arizona. This would help me to travel to my home occasionally on holidays. I would thereby be able to avoid home sickness which is one of known stressors for any new employee. I also have known through my seniors that planning plays a critical role in avoiding stress with need to multi-task in the work. After 5 years I may have my own kids and then I may be stressed to manage them and work together. I do think my nursing skills can help me be a better mother and I do plan to look for only day role during those times. Lifelong Learning: Determine a plan for lifelong learning and educational development anticipated within the first year and at five years. I am interested in growing both my practical skills and knowledge through lifelong exercises. Currently I do want to work in any medical center and gain practical nursing skills. I do plan to complete advanced certifications in nursing domain. I do hope that I would have right opportunity within next 5 years to complete a master’s degree in nursing after gaining exposure to work. Professional Contributions: Summarize plans for (a) contributing to at least one professional nursing community as well as the student’s general community in the healthcare professional role within the first year and at five years.

  1. I do plan to continuously contribute to professional nursing community by writing articles and research papers related to best practices in the field.
  2. I do plan to contribute to student general community by attending training events on invitation as a trainer or in any other role. (b) examining the need for the student’s own professional nursing development related to monitoring outcomes data for patient quality & safety. I do believe that anything that cannot be measured cannot be improved. So, I do plan to continuously revise my theoretical and lab learnings on methods to analyze data on improving patient safety. My plan is to do rigorous quality improvement plans and implement the same in my work. Evidence based improvements do improve practice over a time rather than arbitrary attempts (Matos, 2017).
