Personal Model of Leadership Grand Canyon University MGT- 420 Personal Model Leadership The Rokeach Values Survey helped me identify the values that matter most to me and offered insight into how those core values shape my leadership style. Effective leaders understand what drives them and recognize how their values can empower others to grow and develop. By understanding how our values influence us on individual, interpersonal, organizational, and societal levels, we can make decisions that inspire people and align teams toward a shared goal. A strong leader serves as a role model, embodying the principles they wish to see in others. When leaders lead with conviction and purpose, their values create a ripple effect throughout their organization and beyond. Applying the four levels of leadership provides a solid foundation for organizations to function efficiently and contribute meaningfully to society.

The individual value I chose is love. I hold love as a core value because the Bible encourages us to love freely and unconditionally. True love requires patience, kindness, and respect—it is not self-centered but considers the needs and well-being of others. I believe love is the foundation upon which I build my life, guiding my actions and shaping how I treat others. It influences my behavior by reminding me to show empathy and care, and it sets a standard for how I want to be treated in return. People may not always remember our words, but they will remember how we made them feel. Because of this, I’ve earned a strong reputation among my family, friends, and students—they know they can count on me to treat them with kindness

consistently dependable, I aim to model a culture of mutual respect and trust, where loyalty is earned and reciprocated. Being helpful at the organizational level is essential, as I recognize that I am part of a greater whole, and my actions influence others. I strive to make a positive impact—not just for myself, but for the benefit of everyone around me. As a servant leader, I am committed to supporting others in whatever way is needed. This mindset drives me to give back to my community, knowing that collective growth enriches both the individual and the group. Whether through service projects, philanthropic efforts, or simply assisting someone with a task, I believe helping others creates a ripple effect of goodwill. None of us can truly succeed in isolation, which is why collaboration and teamwork are so vital. As Gomez ( 2021 ) states, “The leader’s number one priority is to help their team execute their goals and decisions and achieve their potential.” I lead by example, fostering a culture of service, unity, and shared success within my organization. The societal perspective I value most is a world of peace. I believe that world peace fosters freedom, happiness, and unity for all people. By making intentional decisions that reduce conflict and promote harmony, I contribute to a more purposeful and meaningful world. Creating peace begins with open communication—ensuring that people feel heard, valued, and respected. A peaceful society reflects strong, compassionate leadership—one that is driven by love rather than anger. As Deterding ( 2017 ) states, “Because you know that God put you here to help liberate the world from grief like this.”

From this perspective, promoting peace is not only a societal goal but also a personal calling to influence others through empathy and hope. Leaders must clearly define their core beliefs, as these values shape their leadership style and influence those around them. What I believe serves as the foundation for how I perceive and engage with the world. Understanding how my beliefs guide me—individually, interpersonally, organizationally, and societally—helps me reflect on and refine the culture I am creating. While I recognize the importance of holding firm to my values, I also understand that growth is essential. My core principles are not fixed; they evolve as I learn and lead. I aim to foster an environment where both my team and I have the opportunity to grow and develop as leaders.
