10th Grade Reading Goals: Comprehension, Text Variety, Vocabulary, Word Study & Fluency, Exams of Poetry

The required expectations for 10th grade students in the areas of comprehension, variety of text, vocabulary, word study and fluency, as defined by the content standards. Students are expected to understand authors' purposes, summarize and paraphrase, analyze techniques used to convey point of view, identify bias, and evaluate clarity and accuracy of information in various types of texts. They will also expand their vocabulary through reading, use reference materials to apply precise meanings, and recognize the connotative power of words.
