General information:

-50 multiple choice questions, each worth 1 point

-Most questions will be taken from each of the 4 previous exams

-Questions will be fairly general

- Make sure you check the time for the final exam—it’s not the

same as regular class time!!

Chapt 1 – History and Research: -Major psychological perspectives/theories -Major areas in psychology (industrial/organizational, clinical, etc.) -Descriptive methods of research vs. experimental methods -Positive and negative correlation and correlation coefficients (e.g. what does a correlation coefficient of +.80 mean?) -Definitions of independent and dependent variables and examples of each Chapt 2 – The Nervous System: -Parts of the neuron and functions of each -General brain structures and functions -Neurotransmitters (how they affect behavior or contribute to a particular disease or disorder) Chapt 3 – Sensation & Perception: -Definitions of sensation and perception -Gestalt principles of perception Chapt 4 – Consciousness: -What are circadian rhythms -sleep cycles -what is REM sleep/what happens during REM -Theories of hypnosis -Reasons we sleep Chapt 5 - Learning: -Classical conditioning -Operant conditioning
