Synopsis After suffering an embarrassing and public loss when she was younger, former professional skier Kat (Kristy Swanson) has set her roots in her small hometown, working in the Heart of the Mountain ski shop and as a ski aid at Bliss Mountain. Kat prepares for Bliss Mountain’s Winterfest, which she and the rest of the residents, hope will drum up business for the town. Winterfest brings widowed father Ty (Dean Cain) and his daughter Anna (Lizzie Boys) from New York to train with Maddy (Lucie Guest) – a national skiing champion and Kat’s former teammate. Anna quickly realizes that Maddy’s aggressive coaching style does not work for her. Instead, having received some helpful advice from Kat, Anna turns to her for coaching. Kat agrees to coach Anna if Ty, an advertising executive, helps her with marketing for Winterfest. While training Anna through unconventional methods, Kat spends time with Ty, who learns to dial back the pressure on Anna. A spark forms between Kat and Ty as they share life stories over dinners and Winterfest preparation. Kat dreads his return to New York but listens to advice from her friend Lindsay (Laura Bertram) and just enjoys spending time with him. On race day, car trouble keeps Kat from Anna’s final practice session so Anna goes down the slopes on her own. Feeling pressure from Maddy watching, she takes a bad fall that mentally shakes her. She decides to skip the race and Ty plans to take Anna back to New York early. Later that day, Maddy visits Kat at the ski shop, and tells her she always admired her because even though Kat never had the fancy equipment, she drove Maddy to be her best. As they are packing, Ty encourages Anna to face her fears and compete in the race. He explains that he faces fears too – specifically, of not being the best parent to her. Inspired by his pep talk, Anna decides to compete after all. Just before Anna’s race, Kat gives her some last minute words of wisdom: to have fun! Anna speeds down the hill, using all of Kat’s tips to win the race. Maddy congratulates Kat on her victory as a coach, and the two decide that there is enough room on the mountain for both of them to coach. Kat, Ty and Anna celebrate the race at a successful Winterfest. The success for the town looks like it will continue, as a representative from the ski federation makes a surprise appearance (nudged by Maddy), and decides to hold Junior Nationals at Bliss Mountain. Though Ty plans to head back to New York with Anna, that doesn’t mean a farewell to Kat. Before he goes, Ty reveals a surprise that gives Kat a new hope for their future.
