An educator mentors people to become what is fundamental to form into individuals who are completely alive.As an instructor in the school district, it is imperative to comprehend what you as educators, students, school board members, district leaders, investors, leaders of the community, and members of the community are deciding in favor of. In just over a month, you will be the voice of our students, here at Tyler ISD. You will decide on a $22 million dollar innovation bond that will refresh our technology all through the district and community. This will uphold students from Pre-K through twelfth grade, and any adults who wish to partake in our adult education programs. In order for you to understand what you will be voting for, you will be able to learn about and experience the technology that will help our students and adults gain the knowledge they will need to be productive in the real world. The three stations that you will visit will include Universal Design for Learning, Career and Technology Education programs, and 21st Century Learning Skills. Upon entering the room, attendees will be encouraged to partake in refreshments. Refreshments will include finger food, water, tea, and lemonade. Station one will be an informative display about the meaning and the three principles of Universal Design for Learning. Attendees will be able to view two short videos about UDL. The videos will be displayed on a smart whiteboard by way of a projector. After the viewing of the videos, attendees will be allowed to participate in a question and answer segment. 5 These objectives are set up to actualize career knowledge and skills that will set them up for this present reality. Course and/or Program Offerings Station two will focus on the courses and programs that will be offered. Programs offered will not only impact elementary, middle/junior high and high school but will also include programs for adult learners. The programs that will be offered will include Education, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Assistant, Photography, Information Technology, Game Design, Math and Science, Art and Dance and Music. Station 3: 21st Century Skills Acquisition and Employability Technology and 21st Century Skills Station three will provide information about 21st Century Skills and technology. “The addition of technology into the classroom can help transform the classroom experience from a classic teacher centered on into a student-centered experience, with students taking a more active role in their learning. Technology provides teachers and students with access to a variety of educational resources that inspire creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration” (Knowing Tech, 2015). One of the courses that will be showcased will be Game Design. “Game design sits under the broader field of video game development and refers to the use of creativity and design to develop a game for entertainment or educational purposes. It involves creating compelling stories, characters, goals, rules and challenges that drive interactions with other characters, users or objects” (Stefyn, 2019). In this course, the use of 21st Century skills, also known as the 4C’s, will be utilized. They are creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. These skills will be 6 beneficial for both students and adult learners. It is known that without these skills, student and adult learners will not be prepared for college and/or careers. Individuals in the 21st century live in an innovation and media-suffused climate, set apart by different attributes, including: admittance to a bounty of information, quick changes in technology apparatuses, the capacity to team up and make individual commitments on a phenomenal scale. To be powerful in the 21st century, residents and laborers should have the option to display a scope of critical thinking skills identified with information, media and innovation. Information, media, and technology skills is used to access data productively and viably, evaluate data critically and competently, and understand and utilize the most appropriate media creation tools. Tools Included in station three will be tools that will be utilized in making the courses a success. Tools will consist of headphones, iPads/Chromebooks, smart boards, projectors, and wireless printers. Interaction Attendees will be able to walk about the room at their leisure. There will be tables with informational pamphlets that will help to better understand UDL. There will also be demonstrations with games that they can play with students using different smart devices, such as, iPads and Chromebooks. Additionally, there will be hands-on activities as well. Being able to physically touch and try different activities will ensure that the attendees will receive a better understanding of how UDL in the classroom works. They will understand that UDL is not only for the student but will enhance instruction from the instructor as well. 7 New Technology As we sail through the 21st century, innovation in the classroom is getting increasingly prevalent. Tablets are replacing our text books, and we can research pretty much whatever we need to on our cell phones. Online media has become ordinary, and the manner in which we use technology has totally changed the way we carry on with our lives. Both school, community programs, and students will benefit from upgraded technology because it will give demonstrated instructive innovation to individual learning styles and needs, empower school and profession availability for both student learners and adult learners, keep general fund dollars in the classroom, and keep up the current millage rate for citizens and keep the community strong.
