Post your answer to the following topics (one post answer) by Saturday then respond to two or more fellow classmates (two posts) by Tuesday. Be thoughtful, creative, and work to advance the Discussion. Refer to the Discussion Board Rubric for point requirements.  Topic 1:   Discuss accountability within a healthcare organization.  Discuss the strategic decision-making process on the basis of financial metrics.  Define strategy, organizational performance, finance, and quality and their interactions. Discuss accountability within a healthcare organization. Every person is accountable for their own actions. This goes the same for us in the United States military. Within a healthcare organization, accountability is to accept responsibility – for one’s actions, but also one’s job duties in the workplace (Bassett, 2018). For instance, in the operating room, we call this surgical conscience. According to Sadler (2016), this term refers to the concept of human conscience as it applies to the performance of all activities that occur in the operating room. As a surgical technologist, integrity is to maintain the sterility in the surgical environment, and the responsibility to ensure the safety of the patient. Another example of accountability is when a doctor utilizes the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). This enables them to gather timely information about prescribing and patient behaviors that contribute to the epidemic and facilitate a nimble target response (“Patient drug monitoring,” 2020). Accountability in healthcare is respecting co-workers and patients and doing what is right even when no one is looking. Discuss the strategic decision-making process on the basis of financial metrics. Gartenstein (2019) describes strategic decision-making as the process of charting a course based on long term goals and a longer-term vision. Likewise, Kono & Barnes (2017) states that resource allocation is critical in strategic planning but shall be rendered insignificant if resources were unlimited. In addition, appraising a firm’s performance is all about financial metrics and established based on benchmarking (Kono & Barnes, 2017). Define strategy, organizational performance, finance, and quality and their interactions.
