CA1 Learning Online (Part 2)

In order to pass Continuous Assessment, you must participate in the tasks in all six CAs. For each CA,

there are non-assessed activities to do before and after the assessed task, called pre and post-tasks.

Pre-task activities will help prepare you for the assessed task so you are strongly advised to do them. In

CAs with group work, these pre-tasks are vital for organising the work. Post-task activities have been

designed to help you get the most out of the assessed tasks. They will help you maximise your

engagement and learning potential during the course.

CA2 Feedback & Assessment

CA1 Learning Online (Part 2)

You will do three Reading Comprehension and two Listening Comprehension exercises this semester.

Reading 1, Reading 2 and Listening 1 will give you a mark but they will not count towards your CA

marks. Use these exercises to practise these different skills and also get more familiar with the

comprehension exercise application. The marks for Listening 2 (in CA5) and Reading 3 (in CA6) will

count towards your Final CA mark so it is important you get plenty of practice.

The Reading 1 link is in your classroom. Your mark will be available after the deadline.

1. Learning Online Part 2 self-correcting exercises

Start CA2 with the exercises in Learning Online Part 2 in Materials in the classroom. They will help you

widen your vocabulary, revise grammar areas and ou’ll read and listen to ideas about the topic in the assessed task.

Do ’t forget to share different vocabulary items, expressions and grammar points that you have learnt in the I’ve lear t so ethi g today! folder in the Forum.

2. Group work debate

Go to the Group work debate page in the ClassWiki in your classroom and follow the instructions

posted there by your teacher.

 Check for basic mistakes such as verb tenses, subject-verb agreement and spelling  Make sure you use appropriate paragraphing (a clear introduction, body and conclusion)  Co sult the u i ersit ’s Writing_Checklist document that has been put in your classroom to

help you read your essay and others critically.

2. Good writers learn from others so when you have posted your contribution, read some of the other

essays and reply to them (at least two). In your reply answer some (or all!) of the following questions:

 Do ou share the riter’s e perie es a d/or thoughts?  Can you give the writer any advice about learning online?  Did you learn anything from their essay (ideas or language items)?

When you are happy with your essay, submit it to the Forum > CA2 Learning Online folder.

Important: All work you submit for this course must be original. Do not copy-paste from the web or

other sources - your contribution must be written in your own words. Any material taken from
