scissors surroundings thanks trousers Remember! Most nouns add s in the plural (e.g. book books). But some have irregular plurals. The irregular plurals in this unit are special cases. Some nouns have the same form in the singular and the plural, so they can either take a singular or a plural verb depending on how they are used (e.g. sheep: A male sheep is called a ram./Sheep are usually kept on farms.). And other nouns have no singular form, so they always take a plural verb (e.g. police). You might know some of them already. Some practice will help you learn the ones you haven't learnt yet. Learning tip Discovering language is the first step you need to take if you want to learn it. Look at the words in the list in this unit, choose those that you find difficult and look up example sentences in your dictionary. Examples will show you how the words are used and will help you to learn them.
