EDUCATION AND GENDER EQUALITY
Good morning, today I’d like to talk about my opinions on the topic of education, its role in
our society and about the education like a tool for gender equality.
Education is fundamental to acquire essential knowledge and skills. It is more than
just learning from books. Our world is constantly changing and developing so it is
very important to teach and bring up intelligent people who could understand the
problems of modern society and solve them in a proper way.
Education is widely accepted to be a fundamental resource, both for individuals and
societies. Indeed, in most countries basic education is nowadays perceived not only
as a right, but also as a duty – governments are typically expected to ensure access to
basic education, while citizens are often required by law to attain education up to a
certain basic level.
I think that education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. It gives us the
opportunity to become a productive member of a civilized society. We learn how to
meet challenges and overcome obstacles. Moreover, high quality education enables
us to lead a successful life, enhances our intelligence, skills, knowledge, and brings
positive changes in our life. Education lays the foundation stone for our future.
Education expands our vision and creates awareness. It is based on the humanism,
freedom, equality, democracy, and human rights.
It is able to reduce poverty in a number of ways and I am convinced that an education
can remove stereotypes and can lead to gender equality, because education makes
you free and equal to others.
132 million girls worldwide are out of school (2016).
Education in the United States is equal for both males and females. They go to the
same schools, learn the same material, have the same tests, and have the same
teachers. But other countries are not as fortunate. Some African women have to fight
to even get a mediocre education. Males are favored because they have to support the
family while the females are at home keeping house, getting food, and birthing
children.
Gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO and inextricably linked to its efforts
to promote the right to education and support the achievement of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). The Education 2030 agenda recognizes that gender
equality requires an approach that ‘ensures that girls and boys, women and men not
only gain access to and complete education cycles, but are empowered equally in and
through education.’ Despite progress, more girls than boys still remain out of school -
16 million girls will never set foot in a classroom. Poverty, geographical isolation,
minority status, disability, early marriage and pregnancy, gender-based violence, and

Poverty, geographical isolation, minority status, disability, early marriage and pregnancy, gender-based violence, and

traditional attitudes about the status and role of women, are among the many obstacles that stand in the way of women and girls fully exercising their right to participate in, complete and benefit from education.  Women education is very important for the country to fully develop. Women education is a big opportunity for a country to be developed socially and economically. However, again it is getting better and better day by day as modern people understand that without the growth and development of women education, the development of country is not possible. It is very true that equal growth of both sex will increase the economic and social development in every areas of the country. In terms of population, India is the second largest country of the world due to the low level women education.
