Could you repeat that?
WHAT DO YOU DO? DO YOU WORK OR STUDY?
I am a student actually. I am studying international relations at the university.
This is my third year, and I will soon graduate.
WHAT DO YOU STUDY?
As I mentioned before, I’m studying languages for international relations.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT SUBJECT?
I chose it because I have always been interested in political affairs and I’ve always enjoyed hearing the news and I wanted to know
how International organizations actually work.
There was no particular figure who inspired me. I think the reason why I choose this subject is because I have always wanted to be
useful for others.
Since I want to work in the cooperation sector for gender equality, I think this faculty would be very useful for my future career
IS IT A POPOULAR SUBJECT IN YOUR COUNTRY?
I don’t really know that, but I think it’s not that popular as some people may expect. Most students tend to study political science
rather than International Relation. They may deepen this subject by taking some specific courses, but not many students chose to study
this particular subject.
DO YOU LIKE THAT SUBJECT?
I surely do like it. I feel that every course has thought something new and helped me to better understand how greatly everything has
to be organized to make international relations to work in an effective way.
DO YOU GET ON WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES?
I haven’t had the chance to meet many other students because everyone already knew each other so it was very difficult for me to
make new friends. However, I met some really interesting and positive girls with whom I am now in a very friendly relationship.
What would you like to change about your faculty?
Well, I am not a big fan of writing reports
If I could, I would change that. It’d be great to outsource that to someone else. But overall, I enjoy what I study.
DO YOU LIKE YOUR STUDIES?
At the beginning I thought many times that it was not my cup of tea.But now absolutely.
I particularly like when we do project analysis on different regions because we get to learn about the policies of the different
governments. I am not so found of the writing tasks we have to prepare because I’m not so good at essays writing.
WHAT DO YOU DO EVERYDAY?
I study, I take lessons online, so I have to take notes to prepare for the exams.
Hometown
Do you like your hometown?
When I was a child I loved it because it was surrounded by mountains and my grandparents had a farm so I always had someone to
play with
Do you often visit it?
When I was in high school I tended to spend there my entire summer, so three months. Now that I am a little bit older and have my
friend here in Italy and other interest I tend to visit it once a year for not more than 3 weeks.
Oldest place in your hometown?
Definitely the school because after the collapse of the Soviet Union, statues as well as churches were all torn down. It is a very old
school but it is still in function and students still study there.
What is there for a foreigner to do or see?
My hometown is the perfect place to have long walks in the woods or to go hiking in the mountains. The scenery is very fascinating
no matter on the season, because in summer it is not too hot and there still are many flowers and in winter there is snow.
How could your hometown be improved?
I think the main problem are roads. They are very old, they haven’t been renovated in ages and so there are always some deep holes
which can become even more dangerous in case of rain.

The scenery is very fascinating no matter on the season, because in summer it is not too hot and there still are many flowers and in winter there is snow. How could your hometown be improved? I think the main problem are roads. They are very old, they haven’t been renovated in ages and so there are always some deep holes which can become even more dangerous in case of rain.

Has it changed? I don’t think so. The bureaucracy is very slow, the government has not enough money and so there have been little changes. I think that people have changed because they got older. Good public transportation? Absolutely no. Everything is really bad, starting from the buses which have a very bad smell all the time and talking for the lack of real bus stops. So, to know where the bus will stop you actually have to know it or ask someone because there is no sign to indicate that. HOME Do you live in a house or a flat? I live in a flat on the second floor in a low-rise building. Who do you live with? I live with my family, so there are my parents and my little brother. In total we are four. Are there many rooms? Actually not. There is a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and two bedrooms. This will become a problem when my brother will grown up because I know we will need an addition bedroom for him. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ROOM? My favourite room is my bedroom, because it’s my private zone and I can always relax there and charge my batteries. I have a simple table and chair from IKEA. How are the walls decorated? I have got 2 painting hanging on the wall, one is a landscape and the other one is a portrait of Marilin Monroe. There is also a red clock next to the window. HOW IS YOUR HOME DECORATED? Let me see… Well, my home is decorated with many photos and paintings on the walls both in the kitchen and in the living room. My mother loves adornments so you may find some candles and decorations here and there. A big sofa is placed in the centre of the living room. Unfortunately, we don’t have any type of comfortable chairs, so if we want to watch tv we have to seat on the couch. DO YOU LIKE LIVING THERE? Yes, I do, because it’s really like it actually because it’s spacious and cozy. There are any shops or restaurants nearby and because it’s not well connected, I always need to drive if I need something. Do you live in a house or apartment? I live in an apartment. I’ve been living there with my family for about 10 years now and I don’t really enjoy it. I think the most important thing is the location and I live in a very small town with no more than 3000 people, so it gets always very difficult to go somewhere, whether it is to go shopping or seeing friends. So it is not so convenient Would you change something in your home? That’s a good question. Unfortunately, my parents are very strict with the furniture they have bought so I can’t really change anything. I suppose in the near future I would like to move to a big city, but when talking about the distance future I suppose that would depend on a lot of factors. • I trust my body. It is obvious, when you are thirsty you will drink. PLANS
  • Short term plans / long term plans / The logistics are quite easy / straightforward If we talk about short term plans, one of the biggest challenges is meeting deadlines because the logistics are usually quite easy and straightforward. If we consider long term plans, I think the hardest part is that you don’t know how things will develop because the future is uncertain, and you can just speculate about it. So that is a challenge because, as I said, nobody knows what the future holds. The latest plan I made was my preparation to IELTS test. So, after checking the exam requirements, I made a timetable and always tried to keep it in view, I tried to do divide everything in small tasks so that I would not procrastinate. I like to procrastinate / I have a habit of procrastinating and it really holds me back and it’s a problem with making plans. I’m easily distracted but I have been using some productivity tools for quite some time to help me. I use an app. I like to make good use of the morning because it’s when I’ve got the most energy. To be the most productive. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
  • I am not sure / I guess about 15 public holidays or something like that.
  • Of the top of my head, I’m not sure but I think we have 16 public holidays a year.
  • The most public holiday is Christmas. It depends on the culture. For me Christmas and Easter are the one I like most. Christmas because we don’t have to work. There are lots of celebrations and parades going on. It’s real family affair because everyone can get together and catch up with each other. We also have some special food and we typically eat fish and lasagne. CAKES AND DESERTS
  • Cakes = chocolate cakes, pastries and muffins, pie
  • Dessert = part of a meal (starter, main course etc)
  • I have a sweet tooth (like sweet things), good for my mood.
  • Chocolate releases endorphins that make me happy, they have sugar so they can lead to overweight. I baked lots of cakes. I’m a big fan of baking. I usually follow a recipe, because I’m an amateur, I’m not a SEASONED (experienced cook). I love the aroma of freshly baked cake and eating it and complementing by coffee is delicious. It’s not so common to have desserts in my country. HISTORY
  • Ancient history (the Greeks, the romans) /Recent history / modern history. Modern history has been plagued with conflicts. History always repeats itself and it shapes / defines our present society and our future. We can look back and we can learn from history. It is certainly important, if defines a lot of the culture and attitudes we have. When we look at geography and national boundaries and relationships between countries, it’s essential we understand the history behind those relationships. I found history boring because it was an isolated subject. When I started traveling to new countries, I started to understand the connection between the culture and the history, so I love to learn the history behind that city. It’s also connected to literature because every book from history is a historical novel because it shows something about the culture. HAIRSTYLE
  • I didn’t used to but now yes. Appearance is important not only for yourself but also for others.
  • The first impression you make on smn with your appearance makes a difference.
  • I feel disappointed quite often, but I think it’s a feature of when you have your hair cut.
  • There was a time when I had short hair and I didn’t like it.
  • I’ve modelled once to help a friend who had to become a hairdresser and it was disappointing Yes, they are very welcoming, and I like to be around the people there.

I occasionally wonder how I would look if I had dark hair, but I don’t it would really work for me. I have never died my hair and I will never do it. I like my hair colour, it’s specific and different from any other type of blond. ANIMALS

  • Particularly mammals
  • I’m a dog person and they are domesticated, closer relationship with them.
  • Love big cats, in particular tigers, they really stand out with their colour skin and their pretrain the sense of majesty and power when they are moving / noticeable I used to like it when I was a child, whereas now it’s kind of a double-edged sword (winter is a double-edged sword) See animals but they are in captivity. Nation of animal lovers, many organizations / bodies dedicated to fond of animals. they are cute + have utility (to protect your property) + therapeutic purposes (therapeutic). ROBOTS
  • They seem to be great at labour saving devices / they are great for saving your labour and time.
  • They can do work before you would have to do and save a lot of time / I’m positive about robots.
  • I don’t remember anything specific about robots.
  • There was a cartoon but not good enough because it creeped me out when I was a child.
  • I’m not sure if I want them to do it right now, but I still don’t trust my life in the hands of a robot.
  • If you are lazy as I am, I think it can be very reassuring. EDUCATION
  • The learning mode = blended mode, combination of distance studying and on campus studying
  • Grants and Scholarship
  • I want to enroll in a graduate course and attend classes and pursue an academic major
  • Difficult to keep up with the other peers but it would definitely help me to broaden my horizons.
  • I don’t want to procrastinate things. Sometimes I tend to be inquisitive , what I mean by saying this is that I tend to ask more questions that is necessary or proper, risking making the other person feel nervous. But the reason of this behaviour can be explained by the fact that
  • I am eager for knowledge and very curious and some people may misunderstand this. SEASON FINAL I study. I would like to work in the European Union. I wear boots in winter and trainers in the summer, it does depend on the weather. Something lighter and casual in the summer and smth hardier in the winter. I had one, they were blue. My mother threw them out because they were falling into pieces. The closest thing to a favourite shoe is my boots but they don’t have a meaning. Once or twice. I have to go to a shoe shop. It depends on how you define a lot of money. I don’t buy them often, so I think it justifies the expenditure. Yes, one and it was a disaster and disappointing but I’m never doing it again. Laugh – what / when / who was there / why The first thing that comes to my mind if I think about a humour situation / It was a ridiculous situation We were laughing for five minutes straight before we could recover control of ourselves. Sense of humour?
  • It helps you cope with stress / it suppresses bad feelings / find common ground with people if you can share a laugh together.
  • I think practical jokes are easy to translate. people can understand
  • Dark humour no, not every culture can understand because it can be lost in translation.
  • The pitch of people laughter can tell you a lot whether they are faking / Really high pitch then it seems unnatural.
  • If combined with bullying, if you laugh at someone instead of laughing with someone.
  • They seem to become more serious. I suppose laughter decreases stress in people , doesn’t it?
