Macbeth: A Tragic Tale of Ambition and Murder, Sintesi del corso di Inglese

Macbeth, a brave scottish thane, receives a prophecy from witches that he will become king. Consumed by ambition and insecurity, macbeth and his wife lady macbeth plot to murder king duncan. As macbeth's reign is marked by paranoia, guilt, and regicide, the prophecy of banquo's descendants becoming kings haunts him. In the end, macbeth's downfall leads to the rise of malcolm as the new king of scotland.

MACBETH’S SUMMARY
First Act
At the time of the book there was a war between the army of King Duncan, in which fight also
Macbeth, and the Irish invaders, whose leader is the Thane of Cowdor, a Scottish traitor.
Macbeth was the Thane of Glamis and stood out among his companions for his courage. In a
conversation with Ross and Lennox, two Scottish noblemen, King Duncan said Macbeth will be
the Thane of Cawdor.
A day Banquo and Macbeth met the witches and they told them that Macbeth will be the king
and that also the Banquo’s children will be kings. So Macbeth started thinking of murder
because Duncan said that the next king would be his son Malcom.
Macbeth wrote a letter to his wife who was very excited about the idea that they might become
king and queen. Lady Macbeth made a plan to kill Duncan and to blame the guards.
Second Act
In the second act Macbeth and his wife are ready to kill the king and the guards, but Macbeth
start to think that maybe he doesn’t sleep anymore after that murdered because of the guilt, so
Lady Macbeth decided to kill by herself the guards because the king looked so much like her
father and she couldn’t kill him. The day after Macduff, Lennox (the king’s men) and Macbeth
discovered that the king was dead, they called the sons of the king Malcom and Donalbian and
told them the murdered of their father.
So the two sons decided to go away from Scotland because people might think they committed
the crime. Furthermore Macbeth, very angry, decided to kill the guards because they have been
found in front of the door cover of blood and with a dagger.
Third Act
In the third act Macbeth is the king and now he is afraid of what Banquo can do and think, so he
decided to pay three mens for murder Banquo and his son Fleance, but the son escaped. That
day there would be a banquet and Macbeth invited Banquo, but he was killed before. During
the banquet the new king wanted to sit but the only empty piece at the table was that near Ross,
which was the Banquo place. And that’s when Macbeth had a vision of the Banquo’s ghost sit in
that place and he started ask him to leave the banquet. Then Lady Macbeth said to the guests
that her husband sometimes suffers from a strange conditions.
Fourth Act
In the fourth act Macbeth meet the three witches who tell him that the Banquo’s descendants
will be kings and they also show him three ghosts. After he discover that Macduff went to
England he decided to kill his wife and his children. Then Malcom, son of Duncan, tell Macdoff
that Macbeth kills his family and they started making plans to defeat Macbeth.
Fifth Act
In the final act there was the battle between Scottish and English and Macbeth wasn’t afraid
because the three witches tell him that anyone who was born of a woman could kill him.
Meantime Lady Macbeth started sleepwalking and died. At the end of the act Macbeth was
killed by Macduff because they cut him from his mum and so he was not born naturally.
Finally Malcolm became the King of Scotland.
