• It deals with the theme of double-personality.
• It show how man embodies good and evil : → This two forces may be separated and left to fight each other. → The ultimate result is the destruction of the original personality.

The Story

- Dr Jekyll is obsessed with the idea that his evil tendencies can be separated from his good side.

• He discovers a drug that works this change and turns him into a new person → Mr Hyde.
• Hyde’s evil nature grows to the point that he commits murder.
• Jekyll is frightened, but he can’t get rid of Hyde → he has taken over Jekyll’s body without needing the drug to do so.
• Jekyll closes himself in his laboratory and commits suicide.
