WINSTON CHURCHILL

Winston Churchill was born in 1874, his grandfather was the seventh duke of Marlborough. He studied at the ancient Harrow School. He joined the British Army in 1893 to be tranferred to India that belonged to the British Empire. Then he fought in Pakistan and Sudan. He became a politician of the conservative party and was elected to Parliament in 1900 and in 1908 he got married. He became father of five children. When the I World War broke out, he had already become Home Secretary and lord of Admiralty but since he organized and failed the invasion of Gallipoli, he was sent to fight in France. In 1921 he was in charge of the colonies. After twenty years in the Liberal party, he joined the Conservaties and, in 1924, he became Minister of Finance. When Hitler began threatening Europe, Churchill advised, unheard, Britain to enforce its military power. Churchill was appointed Prime Minister and made famous speeches on the future victory of Britain over Hitler's Germany. Britain won the war and he became the most beloved politician in his country. He won the Nobel prize and was knighted by the Queen in 1953. He died of a stroke in 1965 and is still considered one of the most important politicians in History
