We are more and more asked about what we think about our future. As if a 15 years old
teenager could have a perception of what she or he is going to be in a few years.
In this work we developed characteristics that we thought for our future and that we had
in common. That’s why we are going to talk about the job of a militar, that includes basically,
helping others.
1. Why be a militar in army
Being a militar is not easy at all, but we chose it because we admire people with this job
for having so much courage to confront violent wars, not only physical but also mental wars.
Our objective is, when we turn eighteen years old, try to join the army in Portugal. For that
we´ll need to pass some physical and psychological tests addicted to the normal tests that
we have to do to enter anywhere. Inside the military academy we have various choices, such
as the navy and the air force, but we decide to choose the army once we have a choice
between different areas inside of it.
A. Different jobs
As we have already mentioned, in the army we can have different areas of work, for
example: Driver of Light and heavy Military Vehicles, First Responder, Communications
Operator and Mechanic.
2. What does the military do?
There are many armies, all over the world: every country has its own. These are
responsible for carrying out missions for peace and security, development and well-being.
They promove security and defense of their national territory and citizens, they have a
cooperative security and collective defense and also a development and prosperity (welfare)
support. They do military cooperation and assistance, operational training and exercise.
3. Clothes: Uniform
As usual, militars need to use an uniforme that describes them and identify them with the
flag of the country that they are serving. There are many uniforms in the army, such as the
combat uniform, the cargo systems, the helmet and the vest (bullet proof). Each one has a
different function. The combat uniform is used to increase the chances of nothing bad
happening to the solder (survivability of the solder). The cargo system is a 45L backpack
