The Coffee Quest Internship: Quality Assurance, Essays (high school) of Communication
The coffee quest is a young and ambitious raw coffee company offering a quality assurance internship. Interns will focus on roasting and cuppings, sample administration, sourcing and sales assistance, and working in a multidisciplinary team. The internship includes a minimum of 5 months, office work, and participation in events. Compensation is €400 monthly and travel reimbursement can be discussed. The Company The Coffee Quest is a young, ambitious and social, raw coffee company. Our team of around 50 coffee professionals works in 4 country offices; Colombia, Brazil, The Netherlands and The USA. We value Transparency, Collaboration and Quality and our goal is to add value to coffee and make it into a sustainable and profitable business for famers and roasters alike. “We are scaling up – and reaching out!” What we do, and how we do it. Together with our suppliers in 10 different origins we represent the work of over 10.000 farming families. We buy their coffee at a premium, and incentivize production of higher quality for which we pay a higher price. We bring their coffee to market with the added value of knowledge and insight, amazing visual material and digital content. We provide easy access to a wide array of specialty coffees to roasters in Europe and the US, and work hand in hand with our key accounts in planning their green coffee requirements. We invest our profits back into the producers with our impact programs, to build a future-proof, sustainable coffee chain. As a Quality Assurance Intern, you'll focus on:
- Roasting & preparing cuppings : Learn how to digitally profile using the Ikawa (one of the latest machines for sample roasting). Prepare cuppings according to our Q-grader protocol and support the quality supervisor in the evaluation. Present all results internally to the account managers.
- Sample administration : Registration of all incoming and outgoing green samples in Cropster Lab. Checking the physical state of each sample, using your senses and equipment to measure variables such as; humidity levels. Get in touch with our suppliers to provide the corresponding feedback. On a daily basis we prepare sample packages to send out to customers. Work with each account manager to efficiently prepare the perfect package for them to roast & cup.
- Sourcing & Sales assistance : Throughout the internship you will learn to structure relevant information for sourcing decisions, as well as providing the tools for our Account Managers. Keep track of all incoming samples, learn and present your findings. Part of gathering the information includes reaching out to producers and exporters to complete all product data.
- Working together in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team: At The Coffee Quest you will work alongside a diverse team, consisting of French, German, Italian, Spanish and English speaking people. You will be located in our office in Amsterdam-Noord, but will also interact with our sister companies in Colombia, Brazil, and partners across our supply network.
