CFO Dronzek Receives Alumni Award
The MSM Chief Financial Officer, Kathleen Dronzek, has been honored with the Exemplary Alumnus
Award from Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio. A 1961 graduate with a double major in
accounting and computer science at Bowling Green, Dronzek was cited not only for her business
achievements but also her community service. She began her career as an accountant at 3M in Minneapolis,
where she helped design and implement the computerized accounting system, and became its first manager
of information systems. She joined MSM in 1980 and was named CFO in 1993.
Dronzek’s community service includes memberships on the board of directors of the Minneapolis-
St. Paul United Way, the Twin Cities School District D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
program, and the Bowling Green Alumni Association. She was one of the founders and charter members of
the governing board of The Phoenix House, a local community organization to help widowed and divorced
mothers re-enter the job market.
Dronzek will receive the award as part of the December graduation ceremonies at Bowling Green.

MSM Chess Team Takes Third
If you’re asking yourself what a company like Morning Star Movers is doing with a chess team, you’re not
alone. That’s what many of the participants at the 8th Annual Minnesota Chess Association’s Executive
Team Championships were also wondering. Not only did MSM field a team, but it finished third behind
teams from Federal Express (First Place) and IBM (Second Place). On the other hand, chess aficionados
throughout the state wouldn’t have been surprised at all with the MSM’s high showing. After all, playing
on first board for the MSM team is Sergei Rashevsky, who works in the marketing division as a copy
writer but who also happens to be the reigning Minnesota State Chess Champion and a rated Senior Master
in the United State Chess Federation (USCF). The four-person chess team boasts two other chess masters,
Beula Evans, who is Director of Internal Auditing at MSM and who finished fifth last year in the U.S.
Women’s Chess Invitational held in New York City, and Carlos Capablanca, who works in the central
maintenance shop as a night foreman. The fourth member of the team, Nick Waters, who works in
customer relations, is a high-rated expert who hopes to receive his USCF Master rating next year.
Congratulations, team.
Employee of the Month: Katrina Pollei
Upon receiving a $1000 award as Employee of the Month, Katrina Pollei’s response was, “Now I can go
buy myself a new car!” This response might not seem unusual, except that Katrina is manager of the
Morning Star Movers motor pool, supervising the use and maintenance of 35 cars. “My 1966 Ford Mustang
is a beautifully restored car, which I love to drive, but I really need a new family car for my spouse, three
children, and two dogs.”
You already know Katrina if you’ve ever needed a company car to run an errand or to drive to a
distant conference. Katrina is the one who answers the phone with a smile, and delivers your car promptly
and efficiently.
Katrina won the award for “17 years of outstanding, dedicated, friendly service--with the emphasis
on friendly.” At the same time, Katrina is also efficient. The fleet of cars is always in vintage condition,
ready for use at a moment’s notice.
