Quick Shoppers is a mobile application that will change the customer's experience in stores and supermarkets. The proposed app will work by allowing the customer to scan barcodes on products of their choice on the shelf before placing them in their shopping basket. Once the user is done, they press “check out” button and the total cost of the goods picked is automatically charged from the user’s account. The app is linked to the user’s credit or debit card and therefore once the checkout button is clicked, the user is ready without having to queue again at the till to pay. All stores willing to use the Quick shopper’s app will have the app linked to their database to enable it to capture prices for different goods. The app will also be connected to the security system of the store; this will help to ensure that all the goods are paid for before the customer check out. The app target residents of urban areas which in most of the time find themselves caught up in long queues at the supermarkets and their favorite stores. Quick Shoppers will help to save time spent at the stores by simply not queuing. The app will also target stores and supermarket owners, with such an app, they will not require having many points of sales, as most customers will be able to check themselves out (Grewal, Roggeveen,& Nordfält, 28). As such, it will help the stores and supermarkets maximize on their profit by reducing the number of employees and also serving many customers over a shorter period.
A similar system to Quick Shoppers is the Amazon Go retail shopping system, the system is still in its testing stages and therefore not yet released into the market. Quick Shoppers will be different from the Amazon Go in that the users will feel like they are under control of what they choose to buy without necessary having to open accounts with the store as the case at Amazon. Quick Shoppers also uses common technology and therefore will be much cheaper than Amazon Go which uses expensive techniques such deep learning technology (Supaartagorn, 47). As such, such a system will not be affordable for small retail stores and therefore reducing competition.
