  • Midwife Sonography Certificate to obtain the RDMS credential a sonographer must.... -
  1. pass SPI (sonography principles and instrumentation)
  2. take one specialty exam (AB, BR, FE, OB/GYN, PS) To obtain the RVT credentials from the ARDMS the sonographer must.... -
  3. pass SPI exam
  4. vascular technology (VT) what is the 5 year rule for the ARDMS? - You must take the SPI and selected/correlating specialty exam within 5 years of each other (it doesn't matter what order you take them in)
  • If both exams aren't done within 5 years, the previous exam must be retaken what is not included in the 5 year rule? - This rule doesn't apply to sonographers who already carry RDMS credential(s) and are seeking additional credentials.
  • As long as RDMS sonographers are active, there is no time limit for how long or how many specialty exams are taken if you have your RDMS credential and are seeking to obtain your RVT credential 5 or more years later what do you do? -
    • you previously took your SPI and 1 specialty exam
  • 5 years later to obtain your RVT you must retake the SPI and take the VT exam *this is because RVT is its own credential with different specialties) what does CAAHEP stand for? - Commision on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs what does CAAHEP do? - they are Responsible for the accreditation of over 2,100 health education programs CAAHEP accredited sonography school students are automatically eligible to sit for ARDMS registries _________ prior to graduation date - 60 days Who defines whether this ultrasound program is operating at high standards? - CAAHEP Who certifies that this ultrasound program meets all accreditation standards? - CAAHEP what does AIUM stand for? - American Institue of Ultrasound in Medicine what does JRCDMS stand for? - Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • work with CAAHEP

Sonographers can obtain CMEs through registry exams, seminars (online and in person), working with students from an accredited sonography school, or through online subscriptions such as SDMS and ASRT

  3. Clean machine thoroughly at the end of each shift
  4. Report issues immediately & keep a log of maintenance status
  5. Backup the system routinely
  6. Clean air filters monthly - these typically are located on the back of the machine all curved probes should be on the ______ side, linear probes should be on the ______ side - left, right when are US phantoms helpful? - they simulate soft tissue and are useful for machine calibration and/or body part/procedure simulation what are the different types of phantoms? -
    • "Multi-Tissue Ultrasound Phantom"
  • Doppler Phantom
  • Body part-specific phantom
  • Biopsy/Procedure phantom what are some peer-reviewed sources for the latest US research and statistics? -
