B. References: English 10 Quarter 3 Module 1 ( pages 3-11 )
C. Materials: PowerPoint presentation, television, notebook and pen.

IV. Lesson proper
The teacher will use Power Point and video as the strategy of the lesson.

What is an Argumentative Essay?
A kind of writing that aims to make the reader agree with the writer’s opinion
about a controversial or a debatable issue.
Parts of an Argumentative essay
1. Introduction/Claim (One paragraph)
• Start with a hook or attention getting sentence.
• Briefly summarize the texts
• State your claim. Make sure you are restating the prompt.

  3. Introduction and Thesis - the introduction shall then include the thesis which is the writer’s point of view.
  4. Opposing and Qualifying Ideas - the writer has to state and acknowledge the possible points and ideas of the opposing side which are certainly not in his favor.
  5. Evidence in Support of Claim - Evidence in the context of an argumentative essay is simply the information sourced for and logically analyzed for the purpose of justifying a stated claim
  6. Style and Tone of Language - The language and tone of an argumentative essay must be persuasive and convincing.
  7. Compelling Conclusion - The conclusive point should resolve the thriving issues implicated in the course of the argument. Counterclaim : Counterclaim is also known as counterargument. It is the point of view of the opposing side of an argument which is capable of weakening the argument of the writer. Rebuttal - when you respond directly your opponent’s argument. V.
