Worksheet No. 1 – Article Review
Directions: Look for a journal article of a quantitative research and review its purpose,
theory, data collection method, types of data, and participants of the study.
Purpose or Objective:
College Education is very
significant in many
different aspects and that’s
why many students will do
whatever it takes to
survive their specific
course/path taken in order
they can graduate and take
their newly earned
knowledge and skill in a
specific area. But not all
students get to balance
their college life, as some
are also managing both
college tasks and their
part-time jobs. The
question is, do all of these
college students (including
one’s who are also
working part-time) finish
college?

CBN News, June 13
2010)
Types of Data: College
Education is important to
students, even though
many of them work part-
time (in order to gain extra
amount of amount just to
sustain financial stability).
CHED manages to get a
full data through research
and survey that 50% of
college students only
graduate and not all of
them do.
Theory Tested: For
obvious reasons, these
students chose to work
part time due to financial
reasons, but CHED
managed to advise
students to find jobs that
are not demanding in
leeching off schedules of
time, and that they may
also pick the ones that are
close to their courses
Participants or
Respondents in the
study: Various college
students scattered all
throughout the Philippines,
and CHED researchers.
