2. The importance of team dynamics in the success and/or failure of group work Feeling alienated in a group can have a negative impact on anyone's mental health and performance at work. Being a part of a team with a common goal provides the sense of accomplishment needed. Employees, on the other hand, must feel the impact of their job on their team and connect with others in order to be driven. When employees are happy at work, their productivity and efficiency rise automatically. Figure 2: Illustration for the importance of team dynamics Furthermore, when team motivation is at its peak, it boosts creativity, production, and efficiency. Organizations rely on collaboration to achieve their objectives. Improving team relationships frequently leads to increased job results, employee happiness, and revenues. P a g e | 3
For example:
Figure 5: Teamwork fail Those are just the side reasons that come from individuals in the group, and here are the main reasons why teamwork fails: Lack of a Defined Purpose and Objectives: The team struggles when there are no clear aims and objectives. The fundamental reason for poor performance is a lack of understanding of what has to be done and why it is necessary. Figure 6: Lack of a Defined Purpose and Objectives P a g e | 6
Inability to deal with risks: Failure to manage risks will halt productivity and morale, or worse. It might become a struggle for control rather than being perceived as a distinction. When handled correctly, it may be a source of innovation and relationship deepening. Figure 9: Risks Lack of focus on creativity: Creativity may be limited, but it cannot be ignored. Team members should be innovative on their own and be willing to take risks as a result of their originality. When mistakes occur, they are viewed as learning experiences. Figure 10: Idea loading P a g e | 8
Overcoming these obstacles is not simple, but it is attainable. Teams are an effective means of achieving objectives and boosting morale. They can exceed any group of individuals and do more to release creativity and grow skills than individuals working alone when managed well. For example:
1. Working steps to achieve the set goal
3. My role in the group work My team has 3 people, I will be in charge of planning for day 4 and day 5, another person in the team will do day 2 and 3 and the team leader will do day 1 and take data from me and the rest to make make a complete plan sheet on Excel. It sounds simple, but I've also tweaked the 4th and 5th day plans over and over again to fit the rest of the days. But it's not just me, the other 2 members also have to edit the plan they are in charge of to match the teacher's requirements and the goals that we have set. 4. Result of group work Although there were conflicts and problems during teamwork, we tried to solve it together so that we could achieve the goal that my team wanted. At first, the group's presentation on days 1 and 2 didn't seem to be what the teacher wanted, but from day 3 on, things went pretty well. We learned from the failures of days 1 and 2 and then tweaked the rest of the plan to make our presentation better. And as expected, our presentation that day was relatively good, everyone on the team was quite pleased with the result. We have used all the skills we need to be able to work well together.
