Modifying Queue Focus.xls

1. DO NOT ADD OR DELETE CELLS, ROWS, OR COLUMNS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Clear the contents of all cells with numbers in them on the Histograms and Random Sampling sheets (You should have completed similar sheets for you team’s data in previous homework assignments)
  2. Clear the contents of the Arrivals times after the hour on the Data sheet.
    1. Steps 2 & 3 are solely so you do not confuse the class project data with your team’s data
  3. Clear cells G45:H7678 of the sheet Data , and copy service times from assignment into cells G45:H????.
  4. Enter mean time between arrivals in cell B31 of the sheet 1 ATM. You should have this from previous homework. If you don’t, talk to me.
  5. Make a note of:
    1. Range of cells for Service Times Data (ie. For class data 7634 values in Data!G45:H7678) and how many service times you have
    2. How many customers your simulation must accommodate (This was given on your assignment spreadsheet) The rest of the steps refer to the 1 ATM sheet
  6. Modify the formula in cell G35, and copy into cells G36:G194 (Note you can fill down, you continue past the cells that have data in them). 1. RANDBETWEEN(1, number of service times) – from Step 6 2. Data!$G$45:Data!$H$7678 – change to encompass your service times data (make sure you have dollar signs) – from Step 6 3. Fill to rest of cells in column G
  7. Select the last two full rows, from B193:L194. Drag the fill handle down until you see that the bottom index number is at the number of customers you need to accommodate
  8. Extend Columns B‐F one more row (These columns should be one row longer)
  1. Modify formulas in cells L195:L????.
    1. Note original pattern (Y cell references up by 2 each time) and duplicate it on the cells you added in column L
  2. Modify the criteria in column Y
    1. Select the last 4 rows of column Y (Rows 349 ‐352). Drag the fill handle down until you have added 2 times the number of rows you had to add before (if you added 40 rows to B‐L, then add 80 rows now – to figure this out look at the last cell you have outlined in Column E and subtract 195 from it, this is how many rows you added)
    2. The bottom cell now in column Y should match the last cell you reference to in Column L modified in Step 10
    3. Note the pattern in column Y and duplicate it in the cells you added in column Y starting at Y354 (You must change the first part of the inequality and the latter part should always be I35)
  3. Modify formulas in cells N35:S35 to accommodate the cells you just added.
    1. Number that arrive: =IF(MAX(E35:E???)=???,"Overflow",MAX(E35:E???))
      • Change the E35:E195, to the cells you have in column E
      • Change the =161, to the largest index in column B
    2. Sum of Waiting Times: =SUM(J35:J???)
      • Change J194 to the last cell you have in column J
    3. Maximum Waiting Time: =MAX(J35:J???)
      • Change J194 to the last cell you have in column J
    4. Number Delayed: =COUNTIF(K35:K???,"yes")
      • Change K194 to the last cell you have in column K
    5. Sum of Number in Queue: =COUNTIF(K35:K???,"yes")
      • Change K194 to the last cell you have in column K
    6. Maximum Number in Queue: =MAX(L35:L???)
      • Change L194 to the last cell you have in column L
