PARK (4 pts)
Answer the following interview question using the PARK method:
Tell me about a time when something unexpected occurred at work and how you
handled it.
During high school, I had a co-op in a physical therapy clinic. As a secretary, I was
responsible for proofreading patients’ medical records and putting it into the computer.
Although I was quite effective at organizing data, one time I missed a number from a
patient’s phone number. I didn't notice this mistake until we had to send the files to our
therapist. I was quite worried about this small detail since the numbers wouldn't match with
our previous profile. While my colleague was responsible for organizing the medical’s
description, I took complete accountability for my mistake.
I immediately contacted my supervisor, who is also the leader of our team after
noticing this error. To my relief, she had all the original files at the storage room with the full
phone number of our patient. The turnaround was really quick, and I was so relieved. I had
the patient's information fixed on my computer and then also asked my supervisor to recheck
that everything appeared to be in order. We got it sent back to the therapist within an hour so
that he could call the patient and rearrange an appointment.
This mistake taught me not to overlook even the smallest details. Even if something
is almost always correct, I am sure to fully edit it. To maintain a good reputation for our
clinic, I need to ensure that there are no errors, including smallest ones.

Answer the following interview question using the STAR method:

Describe a time when you went above and beyond to help a coworker or other colleague. Not long ago, when I was working at McDonald's, one of my coworkers who has the same shift as me was working late for the second day in a row. So I decided to ask her about it before the situation gets worse and our manager might find out. She stated that he was having difficulty working on her art project for the culminating assignment. Since it was at the end of semester, I knew there was a lot of stuff that needed to be done. After that I offered to help her with her project because we were in the same high school. There were many things that needed to be done during our working hours so I planned to help her on the project after school. He was grateful and relieved that I assisted him in finishing everything before the deadline. I was also happy that I was able to help him avoid trouble with our manager. PARK or STAR (7 pts. – 4 pts. for Answer; 3 pts. for Explain)Answer the following interview question using either the PARK or STAR method. You determine which method, PARK or STAR to use to answer the question. Answer the question EXACTLY in the order listed for either PARK or STAR (as noted above). Give an example of a time when you’ve had an unhappy or dissatisfied customer, and you were unable to address that customer’s concerns. When I was working for a Vietnamese restaurant, I got a call from a customer who was upset because the bun bo soup he intended to order did not fit his spicy level. I was in charge of the customer hotline order at that time. I acknowledged the client's dissatisfaction and apologized for the inconvenience. I asked our chef about the ingredients of the soup before answering to the customer. I explained that the soup base of the dish he wanted to order is spicy and we could do anything to make it less spicy. So I gave him two alternative solutions. My first solution was that he could order another dish with a non spice soup base such as pho. The second solution was that we still give him the bun bo hue but with a different soup base so that all the topping will be the same but it won’t be too spicy. The customer loved having options, and he decided to order the bun bo hue with a different soup base. So, I go ahead to take his order and hope that this dish will bring him joy. ● Explain why you chose PARK, or why you chose STAR, to answer the question. Explain how the method you chose best served your answer.
