Coursework 1 – Written Assignment (Group & Individual)
Title: The development of e-payments in Malaysia
In its effort to promote a cashless and paperless society, Bank Negara Malaysia
(“BNM”) embarked on the development of electronic payment (“e-payment”)
solutions in Malaysia.
(I) GROUP ASSIGNMENT (70% of total assignment marks)
Conduct a study on the development of e-payment solutions and its impact on banks in Malaysia encompassing but not limited to the following:
a. Factors behind the development of e-payment solutions
b. Types of paper payment solutions and e-payment solutions
c. Steps undertaken to promote e-payment solutions
d. Challenges faced by banks
e. Opportunities for banks
f. Any other observable impact
(II) INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (30% of total assignment marks)
Analyse the impact of the progress from paper payment solutions to e-payment solutions on companies and individuals.
Notes to Students
- The approximate length of your group assignment should be 3,000 words (excluding presentation of assignment framework ). Variation must not exceed 10% from the required number of words. The length of individual assignment must be between 800 to 1,000 words. Word count (based on Microsoft Word) must be stated at the end of the group report and at the end of each member’s individual assignment. The coursework should be type-written using Times New Roman font (size 12) with line spacing of 1.5. Students are NOT allowed to refer to Wikipedia and Investopedia for these assignments. Marks will be deducted for non-compliance of the above (quantum at discretion of Lecturer).
- For the group assignment , students are required to group themselves into teams of 5 persons for their assignment. Each team is required to submit (through email) a type-written list of the team members and name of team leader to their tutor by Week 3.
- All groups are required to resent to the lecturer the framework of the assignment. Presentation will take place during lecturer’s consultation hours. All members are required to be actively participating during this session.
3a. Time allocation : 30 minutes (Presentation, Question & Answer)
- Students are to submit a Group Member Appraisal form to ensure total participation of each member (one form per student). 10 marks will be deducted for individual participation of less than 50% and 20 marks for 0% participation.
- If any part(s) of these assignments is/are taken from other sources, this must be properly referenced in the assignments using Harvard referencing , otherwise it will be considered plagiarism which will be severely dealt with. The similarity index of the Turnitin report must be less than 15% (3 attempts given). A plagiarism statement must be signed by all group members.
