  1. The elements having the same number of valence electrons in their atoms possess similar chemical properties. For example, all the alkali metals have one valence electron in their atoms. Hence, the chemical properties of the alkali metals are similar.

Define these terminologies

Voltage:

Voltage is a representation of the electric potential energy per unit charge. If a unit of electrical charge were placed in a location, the voltage indicates the potential energy of it at that point. In other words, it is a measurement of the energy contained within an electric field, or an electric circuit, at a given point.

Current:

A flow of electric charge is known as current.

Resistance:

A property of a conductor by virtue of which the passage of current is opposed, causing electric energy to be transformed into heat: equal to the voltage across the conductor divided by the current flowing in the conductor: usually measured in ohms.

Explain the role of static charge on Aircraft, its hazards and safety precaution.

Static Charge:

The motion of charged particles causes electrical effects, small shocks, lightning and sparks. Electrical fields cause forces to act on charged particles.

Role of static charge in Aircraft:

Insecticide sprays from aircraft can be electrostatically charged so that they cover a large area. With this method there is less risk that some of the spray will blow away or fall unevenly. The droplets of insecticide are all given the same static charge as they leave the aircraft.

The static drops spread evenly as they all have the same charge and repel each other. They are also attracted to the earth, so will fall quickly and are less likely to blow away.
