Binomial Nomenclature .
Think about the world, where nobody has ever known by their name,or never given a name ever
since their existence.why the name of an individual is important?
Nomenclature๎˜ is a system of naming things, things means everything, every single organism of
this planet has its name.
Especially in science, nomenclature has a significant role.for biologist or any specific field
researcher nomenclature is the basis of classification.
What is the significance of naming?
All throughout the world, one specie should carry one name ,which will make its occurrence
simpler.
There are committee which took hold of this charge.๎˜IUCN.
๎˜
International union code of
nomenclature.like
โ— ICZN-International code of zoological nomenclature(animals)
โ— ICBN-international code of Botanical nomenclature(plants)
โ— And several other for bacteria and viruses respectively.
So,it is maintaining the uniformity of species all over the world.
Like an indian origin mango,๎˜Mangifera indica
๎˜
is known as same for all world.
Now,what are the rules of binomial nomenclature?
1. Names have latin origin, and is written in italics.
2. First name denotes Genus, which first letter is always in capital.
3. Second name specifies Species and is always written in small letters.
4. When written freehand, genus and species are underlined separately.
Eg:
Mangifera
๎˜
๎˜
indica
๎˜
๎˜
Linn.
โ—‹ where Mangifera refers to genus,
โ—‹ indica as species or specific epithet.
And if scientist's name is written after ,so all together known as BINOMIAL EPITHET.
Thus,we always be thankful for our name,as it specifies us in nature and distinguish us from
every next organism of this planet.
