Assignment Week 1 Transitional and Transformational Change BUS 370 Organizational Development
In my line of work which is sales for a Telecommunications company change is very rapid and constant. Every week there are new promotions to offer to our customers and we have to make sure we know which one is best suited for that customer based on their needs. In order for me to be successful I must rapidly adapt to help my team be successful, knowledgable and trustworthy to their customers. Being a leader I need to know all the specific details of the promotions so that I can coach my team on what success looks like, and how to effectively position a sale. The two types of change I plan to discuss are Transitional and Transformational change, compare and contrast them to help you gain a better understanding. Transitional change is when people make incremental steps toward a new status over a specific amount of time. Transitional change is something that is gradual and slowly happens over time. For example, I wanted to teach my team about a new sale so the first step is I gave them informational pamphlets to read. Once they have completed their reading I ask specific questions to check for understanding. Once I feel confident in their knowledge we practice positioning statements so that they can use this with their customers. Transitional change seeks to accommodate the current goal
2014). As this change happens most individuals will remain the same until they find a process that will work better. Leaders are often required to react quickly to changes in the work place and help their teams adapt and as long as you have a process that works for you that’s all you need to be successful.
