1.Finding the percentage
2.Finding the base
The student answered correctly 76 questions on the mathematics test, which was
40% of the total number of questions.
How many questions were in the test?
Solution:
First we must identify the Percentage and the Rate.
- 76 is the percentage because it is the result.
- 40% is the rate because it has the percent symbol
Since we already identified the percentage and the rate on the given, we are then
to determine the base. Thus, the formula to use is B = P/R.
B = P/R
B = 76 / 0.4
B = 190
3.Finding the rate
Rheil has 12 pieces of candy. If he ate 7 pieces of candy, how many percent of candy
did he eat?

How many questions were in the test? Solution: First we must identify the Percentage and the Rate.

  • 76 is the percentage because it is the result.
  • 40% is the rate because it has the percent symbol

Since we already identified the percentage and the rate on the given, we are then

to determine the base. Thus, the formula to use is B = P/R.

B = P/R

B = 76 / 0.

B = 190

3.Finding the rate Rheil has 12 pieces of candy. If he ate 7 pieces of candy, how many percent of candy did he eat?

B = P/R

R = P/B, P= 7 and B= R = 7/12, convert fraction to decimal R= 0.5833, convert decimal to percent R= 58.33% Therefore, Rheil ate 58.33% of the candy. 4.Finding the rate of increase A company increased their workers from 10 to 17 employees. What is the percentage increase in the company’s employees? Therefore, there was a 70% increase in the company’s employees

  1. Finding the rate of decrease Tyson bought new shoes on sale for 7,000 pesos. If the original price was 11, 000 pesos, by what percentage was the price reduced? Percentage decrease = (100) 𝑑𝑒𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 = (100) 4, 000 𝑝ℎ𝑝 11, 000 𝑝ℎ𝑝 = 0.36 (100) = 36 % Therefore, there was a 36% decrease in the price of the new shoes.
