C714 Task 2 Western Governors University EZ-Pleeze is currently the fifth largest corn and potato products company in the United States. You have achieved this through following through with your mission statement, which is: in the US, we lead the industry in research and development focused on nutrition, genetic modification, and technologies related to produce products processing. The business philosophy is to produce the highest- quality products processing. In addition, you believe in investing in the quality performance, safety, and
well-being of our employees. Most importantly, you take pride in using innovations and creativity to build consistent profitability for our shareholders. By following this plan, the company has grown immensely and weathered many storms and obstacles but is now ready to transition to maintain growth potential and viability. I have reviewed the mission and vision statement and have the following opinion and feedback. The mission statement conveys a lot of valuable information and focus on excellent aspects of the business but is somewhat drawn out and cumbersome. I would recommend rephrasing the mission statement so that is more concise and direct. This will enable people to latch on to it easier and to make memorization much easier. When the employee base can easily relate and recall the mission statement it increases their buy in and improves culture. The vision statement is exactly what I am referring to with the mission statement; it is concise, direct, and memorable. This is a perfect example of how you can convey a very strong message without drawing it or sounding long winded. My recommendation is to rework and abbreviate the mission but keep the vision the exact same. I also have conducted a full SWOT analysis and identified the following items: Strengths: Employee centric focus Competitive business nature Food service industry presence Weaknesses: Large marketing budget Cost of goods sold
to be a focus on the most profitable items and consider the how the least can be eliminated or modify to increase interest in those products. This will capitalize on where the company is successful currently and prepare to be more successful in weaker areas or eliminate unnecessary costs. Third, the company will implement a new strategic plan for operations, taking into account the transition of leadership from Mr. Burnes to the next CEO. I smooth transition is paramount to the company’s success in the coming years and the new leader must be totally behind the strategic plan. A new plan will enable the company to stay relevant in the industry and pursue their goal of being a top three producer in corn and potato products. These are three recommendations that will benefit the company operationally and financially. Once these are completed there will be additional steps to continue to fine tune the operations and grow the business. References Western Governors University.(n.d.)
