A1. Describe how the current website content fails to meet audience and
stakeholder needs.
Stakeholder needs: The site has a very superficial level of content
available in its current state. The website is intended to represent itself as
professionals, which currently this is not being conveyed. There is a good
foundation however, such as the cat page being broken into sections for
the age of the cats, but this could be further expanded. The dog page has
sections, but it is in a completely different format, with again good
foundational information. The two pages should have a similar overall
format, and not be completely different. There is also a lack of information
about other pets, the page is again attempting to convey itself as
professionals.
Audience needs: The audience would have similar content needs as the
stakeholders, that is more depth of information on the topics, and
additional pets as topics. The FAQ page, while short, does include
information on other pets such as birds and snakes. These are topics that
the audience could potentially want dedicated pages for. Overall, the
biggest need is more content in general, and a better structure of locating
this content.
A2. Describe how the current website functionality fails to meet audience
and stakeholder needs.
Stakeholder needs: The stakeholders have set goals for new users, search
engine relevance, and new functionality being utilized. There would need to
be the whole functionality of the “Pexperts” added to the website, which is
currently not available, as well as improved page navigation. The home
page being as it currently stands is not conducive to have new users
continue utilizing this page. There are issues with the navigation bar at the
top, such as when you are on the “FAQs” page and click “Home” this does
nothing. The search bar “fetch” button does not work as well.
Audience needs: The site currently lacks accessibility standards and is
currently very bare bones in functionality overall. The search bar in the
top right corner does not respond to clicks on fetch and does not work at
all. This would be crucial to the audience when the site has more content.

Stakeholder needs: The stakeholders have set goals for new users, search engine relevance, and new functionality being utilized. There would need to be the whole functionality of the “Pexperts” added to the website, which is currently not available, as well as improved page navigation. The home page being as it currently stands is not conducive to have new users continue utilizing this page. There are issues with the navigation bar at the top, such as when you are on the “FAQs” page and click “Home” this does nothing. The search bar “fetch” button does not work as well. Audience needs: The site currently lacks accessibility standards and is currently very bare bones in functionality overall. The search bar in the top right corner does not respond to clicks on fetch and does not work at all. This would be crucial to the audience when the site has more content. When on pages the navigation bar at the

top of the page sometimes highlights the page that the user is currently not viewing, for example, when on the “FAQs” page, the navigation bar would imply the user is on the “Home” page as it is highlighted in blue. A3. Describe how the current navigation system fails to meet audience and stakeholder needs. Stakeholder needs: This has been stated in earlier sections, but there are issues with the functionality of the navigation bar at the top of the pages. For instance, when on the “FAQs” page you cannot navigate to the “Home” page when using the bar. The “Dogs” and “Cats” page order on the navigation bar will switch when on the “FAQs” page. Most websites have a function of clicking the logo at the top of the page to navigate to “Home” by default. The issue of contacting or information about the company is lacking. The stakeholders want the “Pexperts” functionality, and this would require some navigation as well. Audience needs: The navigational issues for the stakeholders can be like the audience, where there are many minor issues that need to be addressed. The top navigational bar is crucial to move from page-to-page, and in the current state this is not working for a user. The search bar navigation is important to the user when there is more content. The FAQ page is typically where you can find some information about the company overall, or a “About Us” page, which is lacking. B1. Stakeholder needs: A need of the stakeholders is to have the search bar functional, the navigation issues fixed, the addition of the “Pexperts” consultations. The pages need to be more structured and contain more content. The page for the consultations requires text input for users to fill out. This would require fields for the owner’s name, phone, email, time zone, pet name, type and age. This page would also require a submit button, as this would be a form needed to be filled out. There would need to be checks that require all fields to be filled, and with correct syntax by the user. This is a core interaction that the stakeholder’s require. Quick links for social media pages for the company would help boost the SEO rankings for this page. The stakeholders require 150 new consults, and 100,000 new site visitors within a year so this is important. Audience needs: The audience lacks any sign that the website has expertise on the topic of pets. This site is literally titled “Paradigm Pet Professionals”, when seeing the word “Professionals” as a user, there should be something to indicate this outside of the name. The “FAQs” page and individual pages should be more in-

B5.

Stakeholder needs: This layout would help add additional content for a new form of users, that is the “Bird” page. The addition of the “Contact” page will help users reach out the company and thus drive engagement. Audience needs: The audience would get a new type of content in the form of “Birds”. The audience would also benefit from having “Contact” and “About” pages for additional resources, and this can increase the trust and expertise shown. The “FAQ” page will see improvements as well. B6. Stakeholder needs: The stakeholders require the page for one-on-one consultations with the “Pexperts”. The pages navigation would need to be clear and defined for this new feature, as the stakeholders need to have increased metrics for new visitors. The stakeholder’s also want accessibility features, which would include navigation elements. This could be designed for mobile with a drop-down menu, as a smaller screen needs to be utilized more efficiently. A secondary element that can be utilized is breadcrumbs, so that users can quickly navigate between sections, and easily locate the correct page. For instance, when in the “Dogs” page, there can be pages for specifically “Diet”, “Exercise”, and more. When utilizing breadcrumbs, a user would only have to return to the “Dogs” page to navigate between the mentioned sub-pages. Audience needs: Currently the site would lack secondary elements, but in the future, there can be sub-pages for each type of animal. For instance, the pages could have dedicated sub-pages for “Health”, “Food”, “Activities”, and more. There could even be sections based on ages of the animal, there are many options to expand on. The page for the one-on-one consultation will aide the user as well. A common element of many websites it to have the ability to click on the logo of the company at the header of a page and be directed to the home page of the website. The mobile site should contain a drop-down menu for easier navigation. The current page would be difficult to navigate specifically on mobile devices with a smaller screen size.

B6a. Stakeholder needs: The stakeholders requested to have a set number of new users, as well as leading the search engine rankings. The sub-pages and new structure would help facilitate this. Having pages for “Contact” and “About” help build trust and show expertise. The sub-pages potentially discussed would aide in the accessibility options that the stakeholders requested as well. There are currently navigation issues within the current design that need to be addressed, adding quick links for social media pages, and improved navigation with help promote the services of the webpage. Audience needs: This page layout is more conducive for users to want to use the website and gain from utilizing the website. The users would need more overall information on the website of course, but this would be developed over time. This would be the start of a foundation that can help individuals learn about their specific pet needs. The user should be able to view the site clearly on desktop and mobile devices, so more compact design could benefit a greater number of users. As mentioned above, a link to the home page via the companies logo, or breadcrumbs would be ideal. C.

The relationship between written content and SEO: To have the website rank highly as stakeholders requested, the website must have quality information, and a large variety of information on the sub-pages. This would help boost the ranking and the visibility to many users. The goals of the stakeholders on the ranking and number of new users are very clear. Use of strong language that a common user would search is important. This task should be detailed at least every week, and completed by the SEO specialist. Tasks required to properly maintain the website: The information on the website should be always up to date as pets are very important to the users, and information can change at any time based on new research. This is critical to have correct to establish trust and authority on the topics used. The website should be checked for functionality and accessibility often. There are a variety of screen sizes the users will bring, so the site should function on all the device types. The website should constantly be evaluated for accessibility, security, and accuracy of knowledge. This task should be completed daily by the web developer. Plan for rendering the website on desktop and mobile devices: As stated earlier the objects and elements can be dynamically sized to always fit a screen of varying degrees. This is essentially using the borders of our screen sizes for a reference point. Doing so will allow us to keep a ratio of where objects should be located for each screen size and adjust accordingly. The elements should be in such a way that this is possible, and not designed to be used on specific device types, rather all types. The task frequency for this topic can be evaluated at a Bi-yearly rate by the web developer. SEO strategies for mobile devices: As stated earlier, use of strong language that is commonly used for the pets we are giving knowledge on is important. The page should also convey trust and authority to a user, so that they feel safe with the information provided. The use of strong navigation and accessibility can assist in the SEO rankings. This would be a bi-monthly task, and completed by the SEO specialist.
