TERM 1
Newtons First Law
DEFINITION 1
A particle originally at rest or moving in a straight line with
constant velocity will remain in this state provided the
particle is not subjected to an unbalanced force
TERM 2
Second Law
DEFINITION 2
A particle acted upon by on unbalances force F experiences
on acceleration a that has the same magnitude directly
proportional to the Force F=ma
TERM 3
Third Law
DEFINITION 3
The mutual forces of action and reaction between two bodies
are equal, opposite and collinear.
TERM 4
Statics
DEFINITION 4
Statics is the branch of m echanics concerned with the analys is of
loads (force, torque/moment) on phy sical systems in static
equilibrium, that is, in a state where t he relative positions of
subsystems do not vary over time, or where components and
structures are at a constant ve locity. When in static equilibrium,
the system is either at rest, or its center of ma ss moves at
constant velocity
TERM 5
Concentrated Force
DEFINITION 5
A concentrated force represents the effect of a loading which
is assumed to act at a point on a body

Newtons First Law

DEFINITION 1

A particle originally at rest or moving in a straight line with

constant velocity will remain in this state provided the

particle is not subjected to an unbalanced force

TERM 2

Second Law

DEFINITION 2

A particle acted upon by on unbalances force F experiences

on acceleration a that has the same magnitude directly

proportional to the Force F=ma

TERM 3

Third Law

DEFINITION 3

The mutual forces of action and reaction between two bodies

are equal, opposite and collinear.

TERM 4

Statics

DEFINITION 4 Statics is the branch of mechanics concerned with the analysis of loads (force, torque/moment) on physical systems in static equilibrium, that is, in a state where the relative positions of subsystems do not vary over time, or where components and structures are at a constant velocity. When in static equilibrium, the system is either at rest, or its center of mass moves at constant velocity TERM 5

Concentrated Force

DEFINITION 5

A concentrated force represents the effect of a loading which

is assumed to act at a point on a body

TERM 6

Weight

DEFINITION 6

In science and engineering, the weight of an object is the

force on the object due to gravity.

TERM 7

W=mg

DEFINITION 7

Acceleration due to gravity

TERM 8

Mass

DEFINITION 8

Is scalar property of matter that dosn't change from one

location to another

TERM 9

Scalar

DEFINITION 9

In physics, a scalar is a simple physical quantity that is not

changed by coordinate system rotations or translations (in

Newtonian mechanics), or by Lorentz transformations or

space-time translations (in relativity).

TERM 10

Vector

DEFINITION 10 In mathematics and physics, a vector is an element of a vector space. If n is a non negative integer and K is either the field of the real numbers or the field of the complex number, then Kn is naturally endowed with a structure of vector space, where Kn is the set of the ordered sequences of n elements of K. It follows that, in many cases, vector simply refers to a sequence of fixed length of real or complex numbers. The various uses of vector which follow are special instances of this general definition.
